So you guys may have read that we used to have a pay system going on here. That pretty much got ignored after the creator of this site, Amy, made a vow of abstinence when it came to online RP'ing, so the rest of us admins have pretty much been ignoring it since Amy left. Personally I wasn't a big fan of it. I believe people shouldn't earn platinum just to stay on a site and not being able to use their character when he/she would go broke. I am however, juggling with the idea in my head, of course with the other admins' approval, that should the pay system get reinstated, to let members earn platinum by doing jobs so they could buy certain gear and clothes for their character in a board we'll create as some sort of shop. This would mean however that each character will need to begin with a starter kit, and buy weapons as they go. And you can't give your character any weapons. There aren't any definite plans yet, there's a chance it will never happen. Yet I would like your vote. One player (NOT CHARACTER!) = one vote. Don't try and fool us, because we'll know

I only really came here to RP. It's one of those instances where I'd prefer to just RP, personally, and not worry about money/gear. I was never one to GodMod, and if no one else ends up doing it, I don't think letting them have their own 'gear' will turn into a problem. If I want to earn fictional money to buy a list of gear from a vendor I'd go play WoW or something. Heheh. Either way, that's only my opinion on the matter.

To be honest, I think it's just another thing that will get in the way of RPing.
The minimum of rules = maximum freedom and therefore the most creativity.

Things like this greatly hinder roleplay and creativity. It would be a big mistake.
*Votes NO*
Also, couldn't people with multiple characters vote more than once in these polls?

We could Vote more than once, but then that would be kinda like lying/stealing/betrayal AND if any of those things happen, it'll usually bring Wolf out. And we REALLY don't want that to happen.
: )
(Correction, "I" don't want that to happen. More than likely will come after me...) *Becomes paranoid*

Also as Rade said in the initial post, we can tell if someone voted with multiple characters

Ok, I have a confession to make. I found this site once before, but I really didn't like the sound of the pay system, so I didn't join. I was really glad when I came to this site again (two weeks ago?) and discovered that it had been discontinued. Although I'm sure some would find the pay system interesting and enjoyable, I personally have to agree with Martine, Ethan, and Jakob.
Plus, I think that having to enforce the pay system would just add more work to the staff-members' docket. I think perhaps their time would be better spent by making sure that members are reasonable with how much money and material possessions their characters start off with and/or amass in roleplay. Actually, allow me to make an addendum: I think Rade's idea of having characters be able to earn certain special items is cool. But this would mean that the staff would have to regulate what equipment characters can start out with, and I personally am not liking sound of having to start off characters with a pre-packaged 'starter kit'. I think that would limit our creativity to a degree, as well as stunt the individuality of our (new) characters.
Just my opinion. ^_- *shrug*

Some ships still use fighters to help defend themselves from hostiles. Pirates and Alliance use them too. We don't need a pay system to be able to use certain types of ships. They are all already available and a pay system doesn't give your character a reason to have one anyways. All you need to do to have a fighter is think up a good reason why your character has a fighter and why he knows how to use it. Special rules to limit your money aren't going to help you accomplish that. If anything the pay system will limit your ability to do what you want. That's what it is. A limitation on roleplay.

Anyone who wants to fly spacefighters should join the Alliance - especially the Esteem.

I feel like we should reinstate the currency system not as a necessity, but more as a decorative thing. Like we use the money to buy weapons and stuff just to show what we have, if that makes any sense. lol Also gun mods should be allowed!
