Their rescuer quickly responded with the best possible answer to the question. The only other acceptable answer would have been a simple good Samaritan looking for the blood of cartel members. Friedrich still wasn't about to drop his guard though. It would have been too easy for someone to capture Cadan and Layla and use them as a clever cover. Luckily, Cadan soon appeared to resolve any lingering doubts to the true intentions of the rescue.
Weapons were passed around, orders were given, and the crew split up to retake the ship and get out of there as quickly as possible. Friedrich moved with the larger group toward the rear of the ship and engineering. Considering the group hardly knew each other, especially Ezekiel whom they had never seen before, the team quickly moved and cleared the ship. There was even a prisoner taken in the cargo bay but Friedrich did not stay to see that issue resolved. It wasn't his job.
The mechanic sprinted the rest of the way to the engine room though he was still slightly on guard as he entered, just to be safe. Luckily they weren't in too bad of a shape. The cartel hadn't mistreated the engine nor had they intentionally sabotaged the ship... as far as Friedrich could tell from a quick glance. The engine was, however, cold and needed to get going before they could make any daring escape. A few fine adjustments, flipped switches, and some good old fashioned blunt force pounding on the machine got it to start. It wouldn't be long before Hyperion was ready to lift off.
"Es klappt!" He yelled out to the captain or whoever was still in the cargo bay. "Ve are ready to go."
