Forrest walked into the little bar, staring at the people who seemed to notice her as she stepped in. Forrest slowly felt for the gun in her holster, just to make sure that it was there. Feeling the cool metal against her skin made her feel a little more comfortable in a new place, so she made her way to the bar, and sat down, keeping a clear eye out for anyone who might be willing to make a move on her or against her. She may have been innocent but she knew what some strangers were capable of. Her cousin, George, had assured her that people weren't really like that on Paquin. They were just theives and low lives, and they weren't actually looking to hurt anyone unless they owed him money. Forrest repeated that information in her head over and over, calming herself with George's voice. After all, George had been the main one to teach her how to use the gun she had. He had given it to her for her eitheenth brithday, and his sister, Quinn, had made her some kind of special bullets to go with it. It was her most prized posetion and she was going to make sure that she it was going to protect her at all costs.
The bartender approated her with a warm smile, obviously wanting to make her feel more comfortable and at home in the place were she was an obvious outsider. "Will you be having anything, ma'am?" Forrest looked at the man and smiled a little, shaking her head shyly.
"No, I don't think so. I'm not much of a drinker or anything. I'm just waiting for someone..." She gave the bartender a small smile, and then searched her pocket to see if she would even be able to pay for anything that this bar had to offer. The bartender noticed this, though, and shook his head. He put down a glass full of a camel colored drink in front of her. "On the house. You look like you could use something to calm you down anyways." Forrest grinned and nodded her thanks. She sipped the drink slowly. It was a bitter drink, but she didn't want to seem ungreatful so merely took a small sip here and there while watching the door. She noticed a few guys shooting pool were looking at her, but she ignored it. Most likely they were just looking at her for fun, poking eachother and asking eachother which of them would most likely be able to get her contact information.
"Are you from around here? Or are ya just visiting?" Forrest jumped. She turned her head and noticed a guy had sat down next to her. Forrest took another sip of her drink. "Visiting. I'm meeting my brother here later, but I think he might be running late." she lied, and then shrugged as though she wasn't worried. The guy lost interest at the mention of her having a brother. Forrest let out a small sigh or relief as the guy walked away, thankful he hadn't asked any further questions about her alleged brother. She wouldn't have known what to say as an only child.

Amaya and the others had been on Paquin for a few days. They had all traveld there togehter having hitched a ride from Ariel where Killian had set up a ride fro them to get a new ship. It was all set up they would have a ship in a day and a job to follow. The only issue was that they only have 3 members to their crew. Killian and Alastair shouldn't be far behind her to search for a few more to join.
The two men had voted in favor of her finding the new members. She wasn't happy with it seeing as they were captain and first mate and she was really only a passanger on the ship but she probibly was the best suited for the job. She walked in to the little bar and wondered up to the bar and looked around she noticed several people in the place that could pass for potential ship crew. SHe talked to a few but it didn't take long for her to decide against them as candidates. They were either to distracted looking at the laidies in the bar or Amaya herself to even realize what she was talking about.
Thats when she noticed the young lady with a weapon on her. She over heard her dismissal of the young man who had approched her and she figured she was a good pick. She had spunk any good ship had to have some spunk on it. She walked over just as the man had lost interest and before she had a chance to go back to her drink Amaya slide in to the seat across from her. SHe waited till the man was out of ear shot before she began to speak.
"You don't have a brother do you?" She inquired with a smile. She looked the girl over really quickly. 'yeah she has potential' She thought to herself. "I'll be frank. You look like your looking for something. Somewhere to be, I think I have just the place and it pays to. I'm looking for some recruits for a new ship. Steady work, decent pay and well not the worse company you will find." SHe said it all with a smile like she was some sort of saleswomen. If she could peak the girls interest she could atleast get to know her a bit better and really determine if she was right for the new ship, the Hyperion, as Killian had been calling it.

Forrest's eyes widened at the sight of the woman who sat down next to her. She shook her head quickly as the woman asked her that question. How did she know? Or was it just obvious that she just wanted that guy to leave her alone? And then she mentioned the one thing that broke a smile out onto Forrest's face. She was asking her if she wanted to be on a ship! A REAL LIVE SHIP!! Forrest's mouth droped a little in excitment.
"Wuo Duh Tian Ah. Are ya serious? Like REALLY serious?" Forrest jumped from her bar stool and grabbed the strangers hands. "You can't believe how much this means to me!! I wanna work on a ship so bad! I can't believe it! I'd love to work on you're ship!" Forrest let out a squeal, but then realized that there were people staring at her, most likely wondering why she was making such a scene in the middle of a bar. "I'm mighty sorry, I just get mighty excited...'specially when it comes to things of this type." Forrest whispered to the woman.
Then she realized that they hadn't properly been introduced. Forrest shoved out her hand for the woman to take and grinned. "I'm Forrest Clay. And what do you go by?" This was all happening so fast that she could hardly keep anything straight in her head. There was so much to be done. Well actually, not really, because she didn't have anything to pack, and there wasn't anyone to tell that she would be leaving.

There was no question that the young lady who had given her Name as Forrest was excited. It was appaternt to Amaya she was new to the idea of being on a ship. It had it's perks and its downfalls, she would learn that in time. For now though It would be anotehr person to add to the rosters, Killian would be happy about that. Killian aways tried to play it off that the ship wouldn't be doing illegal activity but it was bound to find times it could use a young gun to back him up.
"Yes of course the offer is for real. My name is Amaya Hayashi Informations officer of the ship. It will still be a few days till the ship is ready for departure. She is newly bought by our fair captain, Mr. Bernett, so she is going through a few inspection checks then she will be delivered." Amaya isgnaled with her hand to the bartender to get her a drink, the same as Forrest had then went back to talking. "The crew is still forming as well so you will have a few days to get your affairs in order."
Amaya was very business like about the whole thing. Almost like a legal process though there was nothing more to it then Amaya picking the people who stood out to her. The ones she liked by first impression. This young girl was willing to brush people of in a polite enough manner. She liked that, why waste time talking to someone if you have no interest in doing so. "If we can help arrange anything for you please let me know and I will make sure it gets done."
Amaya's drink arrived and she quickly grabbed it rasing it up for a toast with the young Ms. Clay. "It seems you are more then willing to take the position so how about a toast to celebrate. How about to you Ms. Clay and to the hyperion." The toast was more for the young lady then herself. She seemed very excited and it would be cause for celebration Amaya figured it best to indulge her in that.

Killian had only been a few minutes behind Amaya in meeting up at the little bar. He had gone to the docks to check out the progress on the new ship. It was a beauty, needed a few things done as she was an old ship but all the major things were being taken care of as part of the deal. He would just have to make sure to find a mechanic for the ship right away for all the little things that could be done. He would also need deck hands of some sort people to help keep the place running as the ship went along it's way.
He hadn't lined anything up yet as he wasn't sure how long it would take to get a crew but he had asked Amaya to help with that. She wouldn't have much trouble making that happen. As Killian walked in the bar he saw Amaya sitting with a young lady she was getting ready to taost with. No doubt a new crew memeber. Killian walked over to the table. "You work fast don't you Amaya. I hope she isn't boring you with the legal talk to much miss. I'm Killian Bernett, Captain of the Hyperion. It's a pleasure to meet you."
Killian had a commanding voice and wasn't quiet when he talked. If anyone else was in the bar that would be looking to join a ship they would have for sure heard him. "i'm going to grab a drink, if you don't mind I would love to join you both at the table?" He said then walked over to the bar and signaled the bartender.

Friedrich was out of work... again. His last captain had been a little too nosy. Kept checking in on the mechanic, fiddling with the engine without Friedrich's permission, questioning the man's skill... that kind of stuff. Words were exchange and threats were made. It wasn't surprising that he was asked to leave at the next port of call.
Paquin, a planet of theaters and gypsies... didn't exactly seem to mesh with Friedrich. He found the first bar he could nearest to where the ships landed and set himself down to kill time and hopefully find a new opportunity from someone stopping in looking for crew. Anything would do even if it was just a short hop to another planet where he could begin his job search once again.
It was his third day of waiting now. One might have guessed his occupation by looking at him but then again he could have been a mercenary as well. He wore dark green pants and a simple white T-shirt both stained from dirt and grime. A semi-automatic pistol rested in a leg holster strapped tightly on instead of hanging loose. Only one or two possibilities walked in so far but neither of them had need for a mechanic, not exactly the most frequently turned over job aboard ship nor was there a great need to have more than one. The circumstances of his last termination also didn't help convince anyone of his worth in replacing the guy they already had.
A third day brought a third opportunity. Over the noise of the bar, Friedrich heard the words "new ship." Jackpot. New typically translated to many open spots for essential crew, probably the best shot at getting a job except for having a friend hook you up. He followed the words back to their origin at the bar with two women in the midst of what was probably a recruitment. He sat and waited, not wanting to seem too desperate by directly approaching and interrupting them.
Further eavesdropping confirmed that they were indeed putting together a crew and soon they appeared to come to a conclusion with a toast. The pair were joined by an older man, identifying himself as the captain, checking in on the recruitment. The man approached the bar and Friedrich got up and followed.
"Vill you excuse me, please. I could not help but, uh... overhearing. You are ze captain of a new ship, ja? Looking for crew?" Friedrich paused a bit before continuing.
"You vant me on your ship. No van is besser zan me. I can rebuild, repair, improve... keep 'er flying besser zan neu. Ja?"
((OOC: I'm trying to get the accent to come across in text but it's much more difficult than I thought. It seems at the level of comical stereotypical German with just v and z changed. So much more is pronounced differently but would be spelled about the same and is hard to denote without making the whole thing illegible. I worked on word order to be off as well and threw in some minor word/phrase changes to cover for it.))

It took Killian a moment to understand the mans words his request, but when he did a grin swept over his face. "Bartender I'm going to need two of what the ladies are having over there." He said before replying to the man. "Well mister uh.. well whatever your name is. Your right we got a new ship and I could use a mechanic. Never know when you will need one."
The bartender set the drinks down beside them and Killian picked them up, handing one to Friedrich. "Yes indeed I have a spot for you on the ship. I'm Killian Bernett and like you said I am captian of the ship. Your name would be?" Killian said as he pointed to the table with the two ladies there, suggesting he come join.
As they approched the table killian spoke up with a jovial voice. "Seems I am keeping up with you Amaya." He took a seat down at the end of the table and motioned for Friedrich to join. "And who would your friend be here?" He wasn't going to give them time to change their minds he needed the crew and this seemed to be their day.

The captain seemed pleased and ordered a drink for his new acquisition. Actually he seemed more than pleased, more desperate to grab willing crew than to actually find good crew. He didn't give that bit away with his words or manner but simply by the rushed speed of it all. Though maybe it was premature to assume he had been accepted and it was just time for an interview of sorts. Perhaps he had also just taken Friedrich at his word as being the best.
"It is a pleasure to meet you, Herr Bernett." he said taking the drink. "I am called Friedrich Hoffman. Some call me 'Hoff' for short."
Friedrich followed to the table where the other two women from before now were. He thought of volunteering more information of his past work experience but decided against it unless asked. There were more introductions to be made for now.

Forrest lit up at the idea of a drink and nodded with excitment. "Thank ya so much! I won't be disapointing you! I ain't got much any more, I'm just out on my own really." She nodded her thanks to the bartender who brought her drinks and grinned at her new crew mate, and it was then that a new man came in. He was older, and had a commanding voice that Forrest instantly liked. She laughed at him mentioning Amaya's business like behavior, and she did have to admit that it bored her a little. She gave the man a small little nod as if to thank him for being so casual with her and her being aboard the ship.
"Forrest Clay at you're service. I specialize in gun handling and I am also an expert with combat if I can brag on myself. And I don't mind much the business like talk. I'm just happy to finally have a ship to be on." She was rambling and she knew it. Forrest downed the drink in her excitment. "Feel free to join us." She was happily enjoying all the excitment when the new man joined him. His accent was one she had never heard before and it competly facinated her to no end. She wanted to make him keep talking all just to hear his accent.
The new man was attractive, and Forrest felt herself get a little bit fluttery. She nodded at the man as he took a seat down with the rest of them. A mechanic? She smiled to herself. Obviously he must be skiled with his hands. "Forrest." She said quietly, being silent for the first time in a while. She felt odd to have this guy around. He was much older than her, though, but she couldn't help her feelings.

After the Captain came in it took him only a minute to find a mechanic to go along with Amays newly found gunhand. 'How does he do that.' She wondered. It was like he could walk in a room and everything stopped for him. He had a presence about him that was for sure.
Amaya simple smiled at Forrest's responce to her and a moment later The captain and the other man sat down with them. She had though it would take them sometime for sure to peice togehter a crew but at this rate thwy would have it all before they even had the ship. No worries though everyone wouldn't mind another few days here it would allow for everything to be settled.
"Welcome to both of you. How is everything going with the Hyperion Killian? Hopefully we'll have her soon?" She inquired She reached her hand out and hands with both of the new crew memebers.

"well Everyone this is Friedrich, our mechanic. He says he's the best out there and here soon we'll be putting him to the test." It seemed the crew was shaping up. Killian New Amaya from a former ship he owned. Those weren't the fonest memories but not a problem from Amaya. She had brough Alastair along for the ride here on the Hyperion. She had told him they spend time togehter on another ship. Now it was try number two for Killian.
He had put his trust in Amaya in putting Alastair as his second. It would take the crew some time to get aquanted with each other and learn how to work togehter but at least there was some experiance with some of them as a crew. "Everything is great with it, 48 hours and we will have her. I am going to see what I can do to get some work rounded up for us and then we will see where it takes us." 48 hours, it was hard to beieve it was only 11 days ago he agreed to buy the thenk and set out for Paquin to get his hands on it. He hadn't secured a pilot for it yet but his time as a pilot in the Alliance would be enough to keep them flying. "So you two tell me a bit more aobut yourselves. I prefer to get to know my crew before I fly with them." He asked of the two newest members.

Friedrich was introduced to the others by the captain who apparently did take him at his word. He gave a nodded to the younger woman, Forrest, and shook the hand of the other recruiter.
"It is very good to know you both."
After a bit of back and forth about the still pending acquisition of the ship, the captain finally got around to asking some questions of the new crew. Friedrich decided to go first and perhaps get some more insight into the new job as well.
"I have for zree years in ze Rosenthal Maschinenwerkstatt verked vith all types of zings. Zen I verk in ze Beaumonde Shipyard fur six years. I build a uh... mid-class transport from mostly scrap after zat on mein time. Nur two veeks pay fur special components und I have ship. I verk as ship mechanic now fur four years."
"Herr captain, zis ship, uh Hyperion, vat... class is she? Und is it a new ship or vill I need to get to verk on her going?"

Forrest listened to the conversation that was going on around her with increasing interest. Obviously the people around her were a lot older that she was, but it was still interesting to be surounded by people who had more experience than she did. She waited for Friedrich to finnish before she told her story, although it wasn't much of a story since she hadn't really been able to do anything with her life yet.
"Well, I'm an only child who lived on a lil speck of a planet my whole life. My cousins taught me how to shoot and fight, and since it was the only thing to really do, I got to be real good at it. My cousins dropped me off here to look for some work. I wanted to get off that planet for the longest of a time." Forrest shrugged a little bit and looked at her future captain. "I haven't done a whole lota livin yet." she explained, a little softer.

The new members gave their backgrounds and some details on their prior work. It seemed that Fredrich had more then his fair share of experience. Forrest on the other hand was fresh and ready to be molded in to a true crew member. That was no problem for Killian, she was confident about herself and that was well enough for him.
"I guess that makes it my turn. Got my fair share of experience in life. I served a full career in the Alliance Navy, fought in the war and captain a cruiser through my time in there. After the war I was placed at a desk and served as an Admiral until the signal was sent out. Couldn't quite bring myself to stay in after that and retired. If ya got a problem with that history this is your chance to walk away. I don't exactly see eye to eye with them anymore but I try to keep my nose clean." He explained to them. Some people had an issue with his past and he did understand that is why he was so forth coming with it. Though he did avoid talking about his personal life, his dead wife and missing daughter. That was something to reserve for when he got to know them better.
He looked over to Amaya figuring it was her turn to talk now. Not that she was much to talk about her business. He knew there was more to it then she let on but he accepted her cover as a commodities dealer and general business woman. She had her ways to find out about things but how was the real mystery to him.

Forrest, apparently their gunhand, wasn't exactly what one would expect to be the 'muscle' of the ship. Sure, she claimed to be skilled in a fight but even if it were so she had absolutely zero experience. Friedrich had been in the war not to mention a handful of fights since then. He'd seen the most skilled fighters break or freeze up in real world situations. Skill on the shooting range did not equate to staying calm in the heat of the moment and making the critical shot on a moving target that was also shooting back. The mechanic contemplated drawing his own weapon just to see how well she reacted but decided better of it not because of the obvious danger of getting shot but because it was the captain's place to test his crew, not Friedrich's.
Speaking of the captain, it was his time to share and he ended up mentioning his past in the Alliance military. Though he no longer served and claimed not to be aligned with them anymore, Friedrich couldn't let the comment pass. He personally had no problem with the man's history but he felt that he now had to mention those two years of his own history that he had omitted.
"I did not mention, Kapitän, zwischen... betveen ze machineshop und the shipyard I vas also in ze vor. I fought ze last two years fur ze Independents. I understand if zat might be a problem fur you but I did not mention it because zair vill be no problem from me. Vor is ofar."
(("I did not mention, captain (Just German for between which he translated and repeated)... between the machineshop and the shipyard I was also in the war. I fought the last two years for the Independents. I understand if that might be a problem for you but I did not mention it because there will be no problem from me. War is over."))
