Hyperion, Greenleaf February 3rd 2523
It took them a few days longer for them to get to Greenleaf and get cleared to land then they had planned. A few things slowing them down with the poor condition of the engine, including a maditory shut down of the engines after leaving Paquin's orbit. The good Mr. Hoffman insisted but also was quick to get it going. Then there was the delays with their pick up that Amaya was the lucky one to have to give the unfortunate new.
The good thing was that the crew had a few days to relax before heading in to get the supplies. Not that they had any real hard work so far. Today they were making landfall to pick up a new pilot and another passanger he was told could do the cooking for them. Killian was looking forward to the idea of having a pilot on the ship, not that he couldn't flight it himself as he had done more then his fair share back in his early days in the Alliance Navy but a captain should be able to focus on the other business in the ship.
Their new crew weren't set to arrive until the following days from a transport from New Cannan. They were a young couple from there that was looking for any ship to travel the verse on. It worked out well for Killian he was getting the last of the crew he really needed.
Tonight though was the rest of the crew chance to have a little fun on Greenleaf. They were setting down in a small town only a few miles from the plce they would be picking up the supplies to following day. HE had just set the ship down a little bit ago and the crew would be free to do what they wanted for the next day.
"Alright everyone we are here. Got nothing really going tonight but tomorrw we need to be ready to roll, so don't have to much fun. That means you Alastair." He said with a laugh as he pulled a table out in to the center of the cargo bay, followed by a few chairs. He was going to have a drink and enjoy the view from the cargo bay hatch for now. "ANyone else care to join." He said as he sat down pouring himself a shot, he didn't cheap out he got the best money could by when it came to his drinks. On tonights menu was his finest wine and wiskeys.

The Hyperion was on Greenleaf waiting to pick up crew, get some supplies, find work... the usual. None of that really mattered to Friedrich though except for a short shopping list of his own. The ship itself was his primary concern. The flight over had been problematic. The quick patch job on the engine done by the captain didn't hold together as well as expected. They might have made it all the way to Greenleaf but by the rate of deterioration the whole damn ship might have become dead in the water... void. It might have even been irreparable, need to buy a whole new ship already or at least a replacement engine.
Luckily the captain listened and agreed to stop for repairs immediately. Respecting Friedrich's experience as well as his domain over the engine was one of the best things Killian could do to ensure a long and healthy relationship between the two. Hyperion went dark for a while and the mechanic was hard at work while the rest of the crew twiddled their thumbs. The danger was averted but the ship was still far from in perfect condition.
They were now safely on the ground, waiting for the time being. Normally it would be a chance for the crew to get out of the ship for whatever reason they pleased but for Friedrich it was the perfect time to stay on the ship. These were several full days where he could do anything he wanted with the ship's systems. If he needed to he could even turn off auxiliary power since there was no need for any life-support. Maybe they'd do some short hops around but nothing too big until they got their new crew members and by then the ship would hopefully be in much better shape, certainly not falling apart and needing emergency shut downs only minutes after taking off.
All these grand plans came skidding to a halt when the captain sat down and began offering drinks. A weakness if ever he had one was social drinking. The ship wasn't going anywhere. What was the harm in one drink... or a half dozen?
"Ah, Kapitän, I am beginning to sink you do not vant me to fix ze schip at all! Who am I to turn down your offair?"
((Ah, captain, I am beginning to think you do not want me to fix the ship at all! Who am I to turn down your offer?

The flight from Paqiun to Greenleaf was just dreadful. The Mechanic, a nice enough guy from Amaya could gather, and rather handsome really had shut the ship down during the flight. Leaving everyone in the dark with nothing to do at all. Killian had been late in the first place getting them out of there. That all meant they were pass the time they were supossed to pick up the supplies. Lucky for them Amaya was working double time to get things reorganized with the contact.
She had set in on a later date that gave them more then enough time to get there even with the whole situation having fallen apart off the bat. THe trouble she was having as they landed on Greenleaf was that she couldn't make contact with the supply station. THe waether wasn't the most pleasant so maybe it was interfering with the stations communications. Then again it might have been this heep of a ship the Hyperion. For now though they were on the planet and waiting, maybe she could get Fredrich to look the communications over.
Amaya slinked in to upper area of the catwalk and made her way down to where the Captian was pulling out a table and chairs. He quickly offered up drinks on him and she was game completely forgetting about the communications. With a bit of swag to her hips and a friendly voice she spoke up. "If the drinks are on you Killian you can count me in."
Amaya up to the side of the table and grabbed a glass and bottle of what looked to be one of his best wines, and poured herself a drink. She slide in to the seat next to Fredrich. "Don't mind if I sit next to you do you?" She didn't take up to many opportunities to relax really but on board this ship, with Killian it was safe. She wasn't the most trusting person with all that has happened in her past. Though no one should still be looking for her at this point she was always a bit careful.
"So Fredrich, aside from work on engines what do you do in your free time." She asked trying to make a bit of friendly conversation. SHe slide a glass his way and set the wine and whiskey infront of him so he could pick his poison.

Alastair had been relaxing in his bunk when the ship finally made it's landing. He was in no rush to be on Greenleaf. He found the planet miserable and uninviting but here they were stick on it. After the ship finally touched down he made his way down through the ship to the cargo bay where the rest of the crew would be getting ready to take their leave of the ship and head out on the town.
When he got there he found a sight he expected form maybe only Killian. But they all had so far decided to join him for a friendly drink and chat. "Should you all be doing something a bit more... well anything but being on the ship." He walked over and took a seat. He pulled a deco fo cards from his pocket and gave a simple nod. "I'll take whatever your having Killian."

Killian was glad to see the crew sarting to show their faces around the table. They had all been busy since they got the ship in the air every problem that could arise had and they were just begining the job. They would be driving out to the cargo pick up site on the mules here soon to gather everything they were to carry on to Ariel soon. Now it was time for a little R&R for them.
"I can't work you nonstop all the time Mr. Hoffman. Tonight we enjoy the fact that we kept the sip in the skys. Thanks to you of course." With that he poured a drink up for Fredrich as well and handed it over to him.
Killian gave a smirk at Amaya's arrival as well. "Of course your in." he said jokingly. She seemed to have taken a bit of an interest in the mechanic, but then again she always seemed a bit overly friendly. Killian had come to know her quite well over the years and she was quite the charmer.
Next came Alastair, something about coming to Greenleaf seemed to bother the man and though Killian had been getting to know him over the last month or so he had yet to really understand the man. There was something about being here and Greenleaf that was right with him. "We'll have plenty of time to be off the ship in the coming days Alastair but for now I figured a family night in would be a good chance for all of us to relax and enjoy each others company."
Killian grabbed the deck of cards from him and shuffled them a bit before pouring another drink for him as well. All they were missing now was their young gunhand. She was sure to arrive at some point but for now the four of them would get a head start.

"Zat passes." Friedrich replied as Amaya joined them and took the seat beside him. She offered the mechanic a drink but the captain beat her to it by pouring and handing him one with a comment that again respected and praised his engineering skill. If Killian wasn't already captain, Friedrich would have started to suspect him of buttering him up to support a mutiny or something. Perhaps it was just this man's way to give praise often. The drinks of the evening, wine and whiskey, neither of which were favored. He would have preferred schnapps, jägermeister, or even beer but none of that was all too common outside of home. This would have to do though.
"Free time? Vell I verk on ossair sings." Friedrich replied half jokingly and half serious. "Zair iz more to a schip zan just engines, but ossair zan Hyperion I have anossair side project I vill try und finish if I can."
Seeing the cards come out, it soon became clear that this little sit down would be anything but brief and there wouldn't be a chance to get back to work soon. Instead he'd have to settle for a half solution or have the time completely wasted. "Vun minute, please." In a flash the mechanic was headed back up the stairs and toward the engine. As promised, he returned only a minute later.
"I have it doing a uh... dry-run, on low power. Should help clear ze system out und also show any sign of veakness zat needs to be replaced." Friedrich explained upon returning and taking his seat.
((OOC Translations reference and notes: "That passes." Odd word choice but the German word passen means more that it is suitable, that it goes well together, or that it is okay. I purposely made it translate poorly even though it's not what he actually meant to say.
"Free time? Well I work on other things. There is more to a ship than just engines but other than Hyperion I have another side project I'll try and finish if I can."
"One minute, please."
"I have it doing a dry run on low power. Should help clear the system out and also show any sign of weakness that needs to be replaced."))

Amaya was surprised at how work oriented Fredrich was, paying full attention to the Hyperion and whatever his side project was. "So what is this other project if you din't mind me asking." She had her side projects of course. Tomorrow before they went out to pick up the supllies she had a meeting with a contact here on Greenleaf.
She had some information to pass on to him, for a price of course. She trusted in Killians ability to find work that would bring them profit but there was nothing wrong with making a little on the side, just incase. "So what exactly are we looking to find in this dry run?" She was courious what issues the Hyperion might have it was her home for now after all.
She took a sip from her drink as she waited for Killian to deal the cards out. She didn't know what they would be playing but he was sure it would keep the night interesting. Maybe even an opportunity to make a few friendly wagers.

Alastair watched as Killian dealt out the cards to everyone and knocked a shot back as he waited. He was more then satified sitting around the cargo hold of the ship for the night and just have a bit of fun. "Fair enough Cap'n so tell us what exactly are we going to be doing here, anyway?"
Alastir had help plot in the course but he hadn't taken the time to inquire exactly what they were doing, and it if had been mentioned before he hadn't taken the time to pay much attention. "This going to be one of those jobs that pay well and put us all in danger or somethin simple?"
He looked down at the cards he was dealt, nothing much to work with in it, a pair of 3's and not one face card. Not much of a hand but hell he could bluff his way though it. "We going to make this game interestin and if so what are we betting?"

Forrest spoke up for the first time since the Captian had exploded. She found herself being shy for the first time, as the rest of the crew was so much older than herself. She knew that they would be, but still, the whole thing was kind of daunting. She leaned over the man named Alastair's shoulder and peered at his cards. She had watched her parents play and often, she and her cousins had played, and she inspected the cards thoughtfully. She snickered a little at seeing his hand.
"Good luck, Captin'" Forrest said to Killian, winking a little at Alastair. She then moved over next to Amaya, sitting down without asking. "Could I have a drink too?" Forrest asked cheerfully, reaching for a drink anyways. She felt as though she was finally fitting in a bit, but she still felt like the crew doubted whether or not she was actually good with fighting. She knew that she was and she also knew that as soon as the oppertuinity arrose, she was going to blow them away.
"What's Greenleaf like anyways? I've really never heard of it. I've heard of Areil, though. Sounds like a fun place." Forrest was using heavy sarcasm on fun, and laughed a little. She was a little anxious about asking the question and that's why she dirrected it mostly at Killian who seemed more the kind fatherly type, and would probably not being shocked she had never heard of the planet.

Killian laughed at Fredrich's show of racing off to deal with the engine. He was exactly the kind of mechanic the Hyperion needed someone would fix her up and care for her, love her like he did. "Can't help yourself can you Mr. Hoffman." He replied when he got back. They were here for a few days and fredrich would surely get her in even better working order, but he would also be busy helping with the job so he understood the idea of not wanting to waste time.
After the cards had been dealt out Killian turned his attention to Alastair. "It seems Amaya has set us up with a fairly simple job. We are picking up some medical supplies bound for Ariel. Tomorrow we will be picking up the supplies from an outpost a little outside of town. I expect everyone to be fully functioning tomorrow though since their is always the chance for issues here on Greenleaf." He explained to them all. Greenleaf had its issues with cartels, theives and gypsies.
Killian grabbed the bottle one more time and poured up another drink handing it over to Forrest. "Of course Ms. Clay, your part of the crew after all. The same goes for you of course I expect you to be in tip top shape tomorrow as well. I need you to keep your eyes pealed for any trouble." He then slid his cards in to the center of the table. It seemed she had noticed Alastairs cards and that he had soemthing to work with. "well I fold"
"Greenleaf, well the name discribes it all. The place is nearly all jungle. The town we are ported at is a former Independent outpost on a ridge built during the war. It is a constant fight to keep the plant life at bay." The small town they were at housed about 500 people in it now and was surrounded by a wall of trees. 10 miles out of that was another post built by the Independents that now housed the facility that they would be picking up the supplies. He comment about Ariel, filled with a step of sarcaum was amusing. It definatly took the right kind of person to like Ariel and odds were his crew outside of himself weren't the type.

Friedrich settled back into the conversation after returning to his seat. He nodded to the captain's comment about his little detour. The man seemed to be glad to have someone willing and eager to work even when doing something else in his 'down time.' Next the mechanic turned his attention to Amaya who had asked about the project he had previously mentioned. Friendrich didn't really want to divulge that information right now though partially because it was a little personal but mostly because it wasn't finished. A half answer would be enough for now.
"It's somesing I'f alvays vanted to do but nefar really had ze time to do. Suffice to say, it vill probably haf more moofing parts vance completed zan Hyperion does now. It is magnificent."
As the captain explained the mission, the geography was all too well known to Friedrich. Greenleaf had been his first posting in the war, at the tail end of '08. It was arguably the largest battle he would be involved in during the whole war. He might have even been stationed at this very outpost during the war, not that he'd probably be able to recognize it even if he did leave the ship. Military equipment replaced by civilian homes and the encroachment of the jungle probably would see to making it look very different.
"Um gefallene Kameraden." Friedrich said quietly, still partly lost in his memories.
((Translations: "It's something I've always wanted to do but never really had the time to do. Suffice to say, it will probably have more moving parts once completed than Hyperion does. It is magnificent."
"To fallen comrades."))

Alastair leaned back in his chair after Forrest assisted in bluffing the captain. Not bad for a youngster, not bad at all. He offered her a wink back when Killian folded his hand. "Killian don't worry about it we will all be ready to go in the morning." Alastair himself would be able to function just fine, hangover or not. Plus this was a simple pick-up and Drop-off job nothing to worry about.
"Cap'n being to generous with his discription of Greenleaf, its a miserable place. Bad weather, thick jungles and bugs that could carry you off if you were any smaller." He said jokingly. "So where have you been Forrest?" Alastair couldn't help but be flirty to some extent with the ladies even though Forrest was young enough to be his kid, but it was all harmless and fun. "We'll make sure you get so see the places worth seeing, I can show you around just about any planet in the verse."
Alastair raisd his glass with Fredrich. "To old friend and to new ones a well." Yeah he was going to get along with this crew, they were all willing to relax a bit. He couldn't stand an uptight group.

Amaya raised her drink as well joining the others in there toast to old friend. The first person who came to mind was Sidney. It had been over a month since she had last talked to him and nearly a year since they last saw each other. She didn't speak up just sat there and thought about things for a minute. She had loocked at her cards just before the mention of old friends but had forgotten what she had by this point.
She grabbed the bottle of whisky and poured a shot up. The wine wasn't quite enough with the thoughts floating through her head. She missed Sidney but they had different paths in life. Things thay both felt they had to do so for now they hadn't much time with each other. The smile she had on her face faded a bit.
After a few minutes of staring off in to the abyss of the cargo bay she snapped back to it. "Don't trust him Forrest he's Shameless." She said wil a laugh about Alastair. She was trying to get her mind off of things and back on having fun with the crew.

Forrest raised her glass as well, and gave Alastaire a placeful glare. "No worries, Amaya, I know his type" and she laughed after taking a sip. Greenleaf didn't sound like that great of a place, but God knew that it had to be more interesting than anyplace than she had ever been to. "And to answer your quesion: no where. My planet was just a rock in space with some dirt on it. Quite honestly, I'm sure that Greenleaf will be a step up in my book."
She was beginning to decide quickly that she liked her crew, even if they were a lot old than herself. After Forrest had taken another sip of her drink she looked back at Amya. "You ok? I could getcha somethin." She looked back at her captain and smiled a bit. "I'm always on guard, sir, just trust me on that"
((sorry i have not replied and you guys have had to wait on me >.<))
