Layla was excited to be talking to her brother this evening, not that she hadn't been enjoying having someone to talk to of course. Today though she had good news, she'd finally found a job! One she really knew she'd enjoy, singing. A new place opened up and they were looking to get some entertainment, not the kind where you take your clothes off mind you. A real nice business, served good food too. She only had to work there four nights a week and she brought home plenty of money to live off of.
Like normal she entered the Trinity's information, said hi to Dani cheerfully and waited...and waited. When James' face didn't appear on the screen like normal, the happy feeling faded and she frowned. Maybe he was just down the hall, that's all it is right?

Sidney walked in with a somber face he had been told that Layla was patched in to the ship and looking for James. He had bad news to deliever to her. He would have loved it if someone else was the one to pass on the news but he had been put incharge of the ship and felt it was his responcability to let her know.
He stepped infront of the screen and took a seat so Layla could see him. for a moment he just stared at the screen trying to think of how to say it. "Hey Layla. I hope everything is going alright for you there." He said and then paused for a minute.
James was tough and even though he was hurt bad he would pull through atleast that is what James and Sidney's friend said when he dropped him of on Persephone said. "James isn't on the ship at the moment Lay.." Again there was a pause. "We had to drop him off on Persephone. We had a bit of trouble and he got hurt, but he is alright. It will be a few months till he is back on the ship but I promise you he will be fine."
James was badly hurt and it would probibly be a few weeks till he would be at a point that he could contact her. She wouldn't be happy about that but she would have to accept it. "I'll make sure you are kept informed of how things are going with him and as soon as he is ready I will have him get ahold of you." He tried to show simpathy but he wasn't really sure how other then tell her it would be alright.

She knew something was up as Sidney's face stared back at her instead of James'. She didn't know any of her brother's crew very well, only what little she spoke to them whenever she called. Mostly either Dani or Sid answered her waves. This time felt different to Layla. "Hi Sid, very well so far yes, thank you." Her jaw clenched while she waited the few seconds it took for him to continue.
So James wasn't on the ship, he was just out getting something at a shop or something yeah? That had to be it, her feelings were just wrong. Had to be. Layla's eyes widened as Sid went on about her brother. Her hand going to cover her mouth in the shock of it all. Sidney's words began to mesh together, stopped making as much sense.
Her brother..he had been hurt. Slowly a fear tears fell, despite Sid's reassurance that James would be fine, slight anger set in. "Why didn't anyone bother to let me know!..." Her voice started out harsh but softened, "..He's my brother.." He said he'd keep her informed? Good job he'd done so far, waiting until she waved looking forward to talking to James but finding out bad news! What did she do now? Go to Persephone? Maybe. She had money, she could afford the transport and such."Which hospital on Persephone Sid." It was more of a demand on him than a question as she wiped the tears from her cheeks.

Layla had reacted exactly how Sid had expected. She was pissed and wasn't going to sit back and do nothing. Apparently it ran in the family. "It's my fault you hadn't been told yet. I know I should have sent you a wave right away." He told here apologetically. She was right she should have been informed right away.
Sidney was never one for words and others had offered to do it before waiting for her to contact them. He still felt it his duty so he had them hold off. "He's not at a hospital Layla. He is with an old friend who knows the medical world well enough. His names Jonathan Marks."
Marks was the medic from Sidney's unit in the war. He was the best you could find outside the hospital. Sidney had caught him on a trip way from St. Albans. He wasn't happy that Sidney had asked him to take care of James on Persephone as he didn't like to be around the core but he wasn't going to pass up helping Sid and James. "He will take great care of James trust me"

Layla nodded at Sid's confession that she would have been told right away. Damn right she should have. Her eyes widened in disbelief at his answer to her question. Not in a hospital? What in the hell did that mean? "Well enough? Some back world doc with hardly any training? James should be in a hospital!" She sighed and rubbed her temples, anger wasn't gonna put him where he should be. Yelling at Sid wasn't gonna help either.
There was a spark of the anger again when she looked up at him trying to reassure her that her brother was in good hands. "Where exactly is this Jonathan Marks staying on Persephone, I'll need an exact location Sid. I'm going to be on the next boat I can find." James was going to get it, maybe the doc too. That would depend on how things went when she got there and how she was feeling.

Sidney thought about speaking up on Jon's behalf. He was the best medic Sidney had known. Save his life more then once back in the war but he was a little back worldish. It was probibly best Sidney didn't further the wrath of Layla. She was a small girl but she had spunk and every word Sidney said would probibly mean more yelling directed at him now and James later.
Sidney looked down at the console and hit a few keys sending the information of to Layla where to find James. "i'm sending you everything you need to find them Layla." The thought of her going to track down James worried Sidney a little. He know that James kept such close tabs on her to protect her and now she was going to leave the safe place that James had set her up with.
This is part of what made it so hard for him to talk to her about it. She had that same fire that James had. The same fire that put James in the place that he is right now. "Have James Contact me when you get there Layla." He wanted to tell her to do so when she got to Persephone but how could he ask her to wave him when he didn't do the same for her when it was needed.

At the moment she didn't care about the fact that she was supposed to stay on Bernadette for her own safety. She'd be damned if Sid gave her any hassle. Luckily he didn't, not at all. "Thank you Sid." She wasn't a child who needed to be made a fuss over constantly. James did it bad enough, but it was understandable. He had seen and known what she was stuck in before he had saved her from it. So she let him make a fuss over her. Plus he was her older brother, there wasn't much chance of her winning the argument. Layla grinned slightly at Sid's request. "I'll think about it Sid, really will take it into consideration." Before he could respond again she cut the connection and quickly ran off to pack some things.
