Setting the Trap (Lars)

Wave, The Cortex; February 1st 2523

Rider was goin though the report on what had happened on New Cannan a week earlier, along with reading over the note his oldest son had hand delivered to him from Cadan. He was not happy about the choices that Cadan had made in regards to his employment. Though things had gone quite well out on New Cannan. Infact the Alliance had already begun to look in to the events out there. Suspicions were already begining to point at speaker Fairfax, exactly like Rider had wanted.

"Sir we have recieved a wave from a Mr. Lars Engström requesting to speak to you about a job listing. I belive it has to do with Mr. Ashdown." one of the security personel stated as he rushed in to Riders office.

"Go ahead and patch him through to me." Rider replied. He sat down in his office chair and looked to the screen. It tok just a moment before the security officer was back to his desk and patched the wave through. "Mr. Engström, Its a pleasure. I am told you are seeking a bit of work with me is that correct." A smile permiated his face. It hadn't been but a few days since he had put out a request for someone to track down a pair of lost employees of his. Not quite the true but the truth wouldn't go well over the cortex.

"Am I correct to assume this call is in referance to Mr. Ashdown and Ms. Disanto?" He questioned then paused to allow Lars to take hold of the conversation. He would have some rules and stipulations to go along with the task but he had plenty of time to get to all of that.

"Correct on all counts Sir." Lars said. He was not surprised that this man knew who he was and what he wanted, that is what happened when you had a staff dedicated to you and your private estate. "I saw your flag on the Cortex, about the lost employees, and since things on my end are a little slow, I thought I might see if I could fit your needs." He stopped, and cleared his throat. Something about this man made him feel nervous, like he had something to prove. "I don't know much about what you want, other than that you need someone with a ship with a crew who can find the people you are chasing. But I'll do what I can to help." He paused, his throat was drying out. "So, what do I need to know?"

Rider was more then happy with Lars' interest in the job. He needed someone who would be willing to put the time and effort in to the job. "This job is very important to me and I will need someone willing to put in the long hours to make it happen."

He clicked away at the keys to his display for a brief moment sending over photos and profiles of the pair to him. "These two have stolen quite a sum from me. Young Mr. Ashdown is a former felon." He began to explain. The records he send would reflect that he served 2 years in prison for false documents to the Alliance. "I trusted him, offered him an opportunity to turn his life around and Ms. Disanto was his associate. I need the two of them brought back to me together and of course still alive. So use some restaint."

Them staying alive after they were in his posetion was yet to be determined of course but that bit of information was for himself. He was a major political figure in the Alliance and he need not have rumors being spread. "I wish to have them brought here personally to me so we can resolve this without it being a major news story. I don't want to see their lives be destroyed over this." Rider was very convencing in his story and all the paperwork he sent over verified it all.

Looking over the files that Duke sent, Lars was surprised the man hadn't simply reported them to the alliance authorities, but he found it better to ask as few questions as possible. "Understood sir," He said, without betraying his confusion. "And there is no real need to worry about restraint. I don't kill unless I can't avoid it."
He was intrigued by this job, and slightly worried too. A man like Rider had money, LOTS of money, so what was he doing hiring someone like Lars? But his story seemed plausible, and all the files and records seemed to be in order, so who was he to question the motives. "Not to sound rude sir," He asked carefully, "But is this job one that pays?" He was sure that Rider wouldn't expect such a large job be done for free, but there had been times when just such a thing had happened, and he didn't intend to leave anything to chance if he could avoid it.

Ah yes the ever present question of money. A good question and one he expected from anyone who worked for hi. Of course money was no issue for Rider. He had more then he could ever imagine wha to do with. "Do the job, and when they are both in my hands you can name your price." He wanted it to be made clear that he would be paid what he saw fit. "It is hardly fair of me to demand your time and sevice without knowing how much time you spend on the job correct. I am a generous man and I am willing to part with however much is needed to reasonable cover your time and expenses."

"Of course I should also offer up the details of what I know about their where abouts shouldn't I. Last I knew that had left from Persephone to go to New Cannan on the Firefly-Class transport the Trinity. I belive they arrived out there on January 24th. I would suggest starting by contacting the Port Authorities of New Cannan for more deatails. THey might be able to help you find more information about them." THe details were limited but at least it was a place to start from.

Well, thought Lars, that was more generous than I expected. "Thank you sir," He said, "Ill get on this straight away." He was pleased that the man had been fairly kind, or at least good tempered. "I'll let you know if any problems arise, but hopefully the next time you hear from me is when I have your employees." He paused, running everything he had just learned in his mind, looking for any more questions he might have, or problems he could see. "One last thing sir, these employees of yours, are they dangerous? I don't want to run into trouble when it comes to taking them if they end up shooting me or my crew members."

The conversation had been going well and Rider was very pleased with the determination of Lars. "I don't know either of them to be dangerous but you can never be to careful of course. The rest of the crew on the Trinity, I would suggest you are very careful with." He explained. He knew Cadan wasn't trained to fight in anyway and was likely to run from the sound of shots. Layla he had no real idea but most doxys weren't trained is weapons either.

"I have one last demand. Do as little talking to them as you can, and make sure that they do not know you are bringing them back to me. They are likely to fight more if they think thay will have to deal with the consequences for there actions." His voice was still flat and non-threatening. He had no reason to be worked up about it. If this crew was unable to fullfil the job he would find another. He had all the time in the world to have this done and surely more then enough money to have the entier verse hunting them if that is what it took.

"Understood sir, I'll do my best." Lars was not sure what to think of this man, but if he was willing to pay, and it didn't involve crossing the alliance, who was Lars to ask questions? "Ill notify you when we have them."
He ended the transmission and sat back. This was a good job, and he looked foreward to starting.
