"Well, as I see it we have two basic options." Lance explained. "We can use a strong sedative and just knock them out that way or I can synthesize a neurotoxin to completely shutdown their bodies."
He looked around the room to gauge reactions to his suggestions. Hopefully no one would catch on that he'd never done anything like this before. He'd only ever used such methods when needed for surgeries. Everything else, especially regarding neurotoxins, was purely theoretical and only backed up with a few lab experiments that were never tested on live specimens.
"A simple sedative is the safest option but not the most effective option. I already have materials on board that could be used. The problem is that it's not incredibly fast acting and the subject can to some extent fight the drug just like our captain broke free of the sedative I gave him when stitching him up earlier." Lance continued, "The neurotoxin on the other hand would work much faster and would completely shut them down for a prolonged period of time or until I administer the antidote. So theoretically we could drug them before they know it and then revive them right in front of our employer with no troubles in between. Certainly the better choice for us. The draw back is that I don't have anything ready and would have to make it in a rush so we'd still need the sedative as a plan B just in case I can't make it in the time frame, not a huge issue but worth noting. Also, there is a small risk of causing bodily damage to our subjects from the initial effects of the toxin. The risk is small but there is possible organ failure including heart failure and memory loss. Once they are drugged though, there is no long term risk of keeping them under so long as we have them hooked up to the proper machinery to keep them nourished."
There were probably still questions but that would be enough to give the captain and the others something to think about. At least they had options.
