"I wouldn't say it's a flaw as much as it's just hard to find in folks. October, by the way.' Dru paused, only finishing realizing she needed to clear up what she meant, 'My birthday. It's in October." She smiled softly at Jordan.
"You're welcome...even though you don't really need to thank me for anything. I do appreciate the gift, it's very nice." Dru turned to move toward the door, pausing just a moment to turn back to Jordan. "So..since you're done with the engine now, does that mean you're going to start cooking again?"

Jordan smiled and walked up behind Dru and hugged her for the second time that day. Letting go she started to make her way to the common area backwards. "What would you like? I've been working on some new things I could try cookin." Jordan grin and turned around just in time to avoid tripping on the stairs.

Another hug, another awkward moment. Eventually if this continues Dru might get used to it, maybe. Jordan was walking in front of her now, backward. It made Dru grin, "You know I'm not picky, everything you have cooked so far has been good. Just pick something."
With a gasp when Jordan looked like she was going to trip on the stairs Dru reach out, grabbing the mechanic by her shoulders and pulled her back. The mercenary held her there, pressed close for a moment before letting her go after it kicked in that she was okay. "Careful there, can't cook or fix the ship if you get your neck broken." There was a hint of concern in her voice.

Jordan reached up and touched Dru's hand with her finger tips. "I'll try to be more careful." She looked over her shoulder and up at Dru. "After all, eating Trace's cookin might kill you all." Her joking voice came back, she wasn't sure how to handle the situation.
"I'd hug you again, but i think you have met your hugging limit." Jordan giggled and smiled up at Dru before she started her way down the stairs. "I'll make something out of our rations, next planet, i'm buying real food." She stopped in the middle of the stairs and looked back at Dru with a smile.

"I think I'd rather just eat my gun and have it over with." She laughed. "Yes I have had to develop a strict two hug limit per day thanks to you." Really Dru kind of preferred not to have any hugs, but didn't have the heart to tell Jordan that.
When Jordan continued down the stairs Dru followed a little closer, just in case she tripped again. "Real food, can't wait. Always a rare treat out in the black." She smiled ad Jordan in return. Dru couldn't exactly place the bond they had so seemingly easily formed. It was very unlike her. Hell she still barely tolerated the others on the ship. Definitely not in the same way she did with Jordan.

Jordan walked to the common area and began looking over their food stuffs right away, she found some canned fruit, and several odds and ends, then there were the protein bars, they had no real flavor, and she often used them for filler to make the other foods stretch a little further. Something her mother had taught her.
"Pa had a garden when I was younger, there wasn't a season we didn't have fresh food. Apples, oranges, grapes, carrots. I took it all for granted. Now out here, I can't seem to get enough of it. What I wouldn't give for some blueberries." She smiled at the thought then went back to making a sort of stew. She was using a fair amount of gravy to hide the protein that she was throwing in.
"What about you? Miss anything like that?"

As the two women walked into the dining area Jordan began going through the various items they had on hand that qualified as food, while Dru sat herself on the dining table; letting her feet swing a little. She listened as Jordan talked about her memories of younger years. "Sounds nice."
Then the question was raised to the mercenary, about memories and such. Family was a touchy subject as it was for Jordan, but in a less traumatic way probably. Dru sighed softly, "Not anything as lovely as yours Jordan. My good memories pretty much ended when I hit sixteen." That was when things had gone south in many ways, then two years later there was nothing left on Pelorum for her.

Jordan decided not to pry into Dru's past, it was better to look into the future at any rate. They were both sticking on, looking to see what the next planet was, adventure sure to follow. They both had a home for a time being and both had a friend in each other. Jordan found that last part the most interesting, they had a strange type of friendship. One that seemed shrouded with mystery, and violence. Well, not so much violence between each others. Jordan began wishing she had seen Dru in action, though, they would have been cleaning up Trace's corpse by now, not to mention she would have likely died in the process of watching the action.
Jordan shook her head, she had allowed herself to become distracted. Looking back at her food she moved it around making sure everything was going to be prepared properly.
"We should be thanking my mom for teachin me how to cook, or else this food would be something horrid." Jordan offered a smile as she shook the cobwebs out of her head. "Dru, will you be staying with us long term? Or should we jump ship at the next port?"
In that second, Jordan decided if Dru left, she would follow her. After all, they were friends.

Dru was glad that Jordan didn't ask any questions regarding her vague statement. She didn't enjoy dwelling on that part of her life, even less telling anyone about it. It was too full of sadness and heartache. Not to say she didn't miss her parents, she did. Even though she didn't see her father often, her mother had always been around.
"Well, seems as though Lars wants me to be his first-mate, so I guess I'm staying.' Dru paused a moment, pondering Jordan's second question. 'Would you really leave if I did?" She didn't understand, her face showed the confusion she was feeling.
Sure they had became a little closer than Dru was normally known for, but for Jordan to follow her if she left?

"Sure why not? I mean, you enjoy my cooking, and I enjoy talking to you... Besides who else is going to teach me to shoot a gun?" Jordan smiled at her then moved the food in the pot around some more. "Dru, I have been on a lot of ships, more then I care to admit, and you have been one of the nicest people to me, and the only one that cared enough to ask me about my issue with Reavers.. You are my first friend out here in the black and I'm not about to let you just vanish on me, you are stuck with me." She pointed her spoon at Dru as she finished that last part. "Even if I have to sneak into cargo bays, I ain't lettin ya' go." Jordan smiled at that last part, if Dru didn't want her, she would stay of course. She wasn't sure if Dru felt like she did, about their friendship.

Dru had to laugh, she couldn't hold it back. "You would be the only one to believe that one Jordan. I am not normally a nice person, at all. Lars was on this ship for six months with me before I left, he could confirm that." She had been getting close to maybe warming up to Lars just a little when she left the Southern Star, that was after six months. Dru hadn't even been here a month yet.
"It is curious as to why I've sort of warmed up to you so quickly, it's very out character for me. Seriously Jordan, I don't have friends.' Dru paused for a moment, she had been speaking truthfully, but her next comment was more of a tease, 'You must be putting something in that food of yours." A grin crossed her lips.
She wasn't going anywhere though, at least not that she intended to. There was still some discussion to have with Lars on the whole first-mate situation, but she'd been giving him some time to heal first. Make sure the drugs were out of his system before he went spouting non-sense again. "You don't have to go sneaking onto any ships, I'm staying here. Once you get some rest we can go back to the teaching you how to shoot. I know you haven't been sleeping much, not the best time to handle a gun."
