Claudio was amused by the man's antics. "Now now captain." He said, with a chuckle. "Let's not point fingers without the full story. You paint me as some sort of common criminal." He smiled, even though the other man couldn't see him. "You don't remember the other agents you ratted out? To keep your cover? The noble Ryder, pointing fingers to save his own neck." He lit a cigar, and took a long breath, laughing in his deep voice as he exhaled. "Anders cried, she swore that you knew everything, that the feds would find me." He laughed, and waved his cigar, drawing a pattern with the smoke. "She shouldn't have lied to me. I don't like it when people lie to me."
He felt the exhilaration of evil flood his veins, and the smoke swirling around his face made him feel alive again. "If you want to apologize, go look around Whitefall, that is where most of her is drifting." He paused, taking another breath through his cigar. "Such a pity, i think she had children. But don't worry, I took care of them as well."
"The other one was less of a coward. Jennings was it? Yes that sounds right. He fought hard, took several doses of sedatives to subdue him. I won't lie, i was impressed, very impressed. I even offered him a place in my organization, but he wouldn't yield. He died well." Claudio's eyes glimmered as he spoke. "So tell me captain, how does it feel to know that you are responsible for their deaths? How does that fit in your honor?" His voice grew harsh and cold. "You are no less scum than I am, except I don't sell out my partners. Or my friends, if i had any.." He blew a smoke ring, and laughed. "Friends are too much of a liability, and far too annoying for me. But that is beside the point, you are responsible for several headaches, and I don't take kindly to feds, or snitches. You have the distinct misfortune to be both." He was enjoying himself.
"Oh, and Miss Stanforth, If you value your ability to talk, you will keep your thoughts, and misguided insults to yourself." He had been linked to a list of passengers, and and crew. He loved being rich. "We wouldn't want you to end up like that drunk whore of a mother of yours. Dead in some ditch." He took on a tone of mock horror, "Oh, you didn't know? I'm so sorry." He blew another smoke ring, and turned his words to a new target.
"Now then, Captain." He said, blowing a breath of smoke out into the air, "We have some decisions to make." He closed his eyes and thought carefully about his next words. "You could throw yourself out the airlock now, and be done with the whole business. Die an honorable death and what not." He smiled as he spoke, "Or I can have you set adrift in reaver territory."
He opened his eyes, a wicked gleam coming to his eyes. "So the question here, is, How many of your crew are you willing to lose?" He laughed, a rich, wicked laugh. "Because i assure you, the reavers don't take too kindly to trespassers." He took a deep breath on his cigar, and spoke quietly, "Isn't it sad? No one will come to look for you." He blew out the remainder of the smoke, "Not even for someone as pretty as that companion of yours." He laughed, "Never could get with a woman legitimately, could you Ryder?"
Claudio leaned slightly on his elbow, and his next words were spoken in amusement. "You even managed to pick a lousy companion." He said, in mock disappointment, "You can't be running around with the likes of her, or maybe she hasn't told you her story? The parts about her corrupt family?" He laughed a dark laugh. "No, she isn't a companion, she is just a rich girl, who couldn't succeed in the easiest job in the worlds."
He smiled, enjoying the swirling smoke. "You'll have to tell me how you managed to dish out ten black marks." Claudio allowed his voice to grow softer, more mocking, in false pity. "Did no one ever tell you that it wasn't personal? That it was all just for that pitiful whelp of a father?" He dropped to almost a whisper, "Trying to forget your name may work for these fools, but you can't hide anything from me." He clicked his tongue, "I can tell you things about your family that would make your pretty little head spin for a year."
"Oh yes, this is quite the crew you have Ryder." He mused, "A load of rebellion leftovers, and a broken down companion." He sighed, "I thought you would have at least tried to do better than that. What happened to you? Where is the mighty officer Ryder now? Did your precious lawful and just alliance throw you out to dry?" He rubbed his long finger along his cigar, and laughed softly to himself. "But don't worry, I will never forget you. Even long after you are dead."
