Okay so for the sake of ease on my brain which doesn't work well anymore as it is (baby stealing my brainsssss! zombie?!) I'm going to just put replies/thoughts to things as I read through the topic~
I don't mind in the least helping out on the site, especially if I'm not feeling alone in doing things for the site. No offense intended to anyone but that's part of the reason I'm on staff break from here, I need a break from doing pretty much everything alone. No apologies needed also, life happens. Advertising isn't a problem at all nor is affiliations. I'll get to work on the layout change during this week, maybe today but I can't promise that. Got lots of house work to catch up on. it was a fun place and was sad that it died off when Sid went away, but I'm not familiar enough with the show and such to take over his role.
As far as deciding who to kill off and who not to, well we can let the activity check help with that. If someone doesn't respond to it we can be pretty sure they won't be returning, with the exception of those who hold positions like Sid and James do I think we'd be okay to do a mix of deaths and injuries.
Regarding Roger's first set of ideas:
I think a mixture of the first and second idea might be good, it'd give a new light to focus on with a full site revamp, a time skip could also work with this. While RP'ing out the actual event would be cool, it could also become a bit confusing and time consuming. We'd have to determine what exactly is happening and where and who's involved...ect. Doing some flashback/past dated threads just to highlight some things might be a better route rather than full out RP'ing it. With a mixture of the on-ship happenings with the human-cylons and the battlestars there's plenty of chaos going on to account for losses wherever they may be.
With whoever takes over as the temporary-ish commanding position, I'm not great as far as military type information so as far as chain of command I got no idea who would fit that position.
The resistance was a cool plot, it gave a different aspect of RP'ing as far as enviroments and such. I don't much care for the thought of tossing them aside all together. If we do the time skip and go with an idea that was mentioned, not sure if it was ever decided on. The smaller military vessel that we were going to have come into the picture later on with the whole human-cylon in charge guy who was above Sideny..ect hope that rings a bell....anyway an idea was that was the ship that rescued the resistance that way they would also be joining the fleet and said smaller military ship might be able to get a good idea of where the Hyperion might be with the help of Chris (Sid's char) since he was part of the Hyperion.
I'd love to have James active as well, but like Roger I don't see that happening, at least anytime soon. Until the time that he can officially be back in full swing I'd opt for skipping over him in the change of command
the option 2 for the time skip idea i like also; as I said before about the time skipping. so obviously i am good with a fast forward
the new ships, i like the idea here. at the time we had the hyperion and the star we had for RP'ing options as far as ships went. it would also give folks more options as far as how their character fits into where the story is. I do have thought on adding more ships to the RP'ing locations, perhaps we should put a limited # of positions on each ship that must all be filled before others can be added. That way we can try to avoid having 50 people making chars for the hyperion and only end up with 3 on the civilian ship for example.
i'm good with having one of those ships be a 'hospital' type place that is purely medical. it could come in with the gunstar idea being part of the group of ships they've met up with
also the additional options for people to choose from as far as positions, but i am still for keeping a limit on them like we put in place for the hyperion.
seeing the additional idea for the resistance setting up their own thing on the planet, i kinda like that. but i think the only problem with that might be that if they were able to set up a base and actually make an impact on the cylons they might become too high of a target and end up just getting the planet nuked again just so the cylons dont have to deal with them
as i mentioned azura is the one i'm 99% sure on keeping and while my muse is a bit broken at the moment im sure i can churn out a couple posts just to keep her in the picture with all the changes that could be going on
touching on the mutiny/terrorist ideas from a few posts before, i think we could save this plot for a future happening
depending on how far into the future we go, but perhaps it could start after the presidental election for one reason or another -- something to figure out later if it becomes solid
on the new ships i can agree with not having too many open as locations just yet as far as a main RP option. perhaps we can find a place/uninhabitable planet outside the red line a little that the fleet could hide out at/leave the civilian ships when they need repairs or somthing so that they'll be safe. perhaps they find some way to keep themselves off radars using the planet atmosphere or somthing. who knows but it's an idea
if we're going for the story that we want to take our worlds back, i think having a more military-ish style to things would be good also. adding a few more over time would be cool
