Who ever knew that the Verse was ruled by such a strong legal framework. I don't remember any will transferring the ship to Sidney which would leave the ship to James' family and thus this new Clark. If Sid did get the ship that complicates things but Roger was made firstmate and thus would unofficially take the ship (like Sidney took it when James was inactive/in hospital).
