Lost in thought, Emmett's mind wandered to the possibilities of his new assignment. Dropships were one of the more interesting bits on a rig like this- it certainly meant he wouldn't be bored. It also provided him with a space he could compartmentalize as his own. Not by technicality, of course, but every pilot was respected in his own space. It was one of the unwritten rules of the 'verse.
"Are you guys new recruits too?"
"Hm?" The question brought Emmett out of his reverie. He had, of course, peripherally noticed the new arrivals, but the conversation hadn't really involved him. Now, however, he grinned.
"Nice to meet you, Lieutenant," he said, laughing as he accepted the handshake and returned it. "Well I'm certainly new, but I think the Captain here might've been on a while." He winked, then turned to Captain Harper. "Captain, if you don't mind, I'll be getting things together." He offered a salute, and headed off to collect his belongings.

Michael gave a wide grin to the newly arrived transfer and his comment. He shook the man's hand and then followed Tanner's comment. "Well, I like to think I'm still learning the job, Something new everyday, you know?" He gave Tanner a rather casual salute in return and sent him on his way. The commander was not interested in holding Tanner up in small talk on the dock to the ship. There'd be time to get to know one another later once the ship was underway.
"I'm Commander Harper, Captain of the Truxtun." he then added for the junior officer. "Lieutenant JG Loosani..." he searched his mind but failed as he often did to match the name to the file he'd read. The rank narrowed it down a bit though, weren't getting all too Lieutenant Junior Grades. He'd need a little more help in matching him in his mind. "Are you the pilot they sent to me or the controller that actually requested this post?"

As he was shaking the first man's hand, Carlisle didn't understand why he was laughing. Then he referred to one of the other men as captain, but the young lieutenant JG was still a little confused. It wasn't until the captain introduced himself that Carlisle realized the mistake he had made. He kicked himself for it but was excited at the same time to be meeting the man in charge. Standing a little straighter now, Carlisle smiled at the Commander's use of the word 'actually.'
"Yep, air traffic controller, that'd be me. It's nice to meet you sir," Carlisle was speaking a little faster than before. "I've been here on Osiris a little over two years, but things are too bland. They call it military work, but nah... That's not what it feels like. I don't feel like I was helping the people that needed it, and there's just no excitement left." For a moment, Carlisle thought back to when he first got the job on Osiris and how happy he was, but he quickly continued, "From what I hear, excitement surrounds this ship, and the work you guys do seems like work that actually needs to be done," Carlisle now had a half-smile on his face, "So here I am."
