Out of the Frying Pan... }{ Contest Plot, Bella

[Clairabella Corinth]

Clairabella was extatic about their find, the potatos weren't the most flavorful food, but it secured them from having to worry about food all together. They had water not to far off with the river running maybe a mile at most from the shack. It gave them the basics of what they needed but they still had to figure out more then this in the end.

Safety was important othes might find this plance have have intentions of taking it from them. They would need to secure themselve some sort of weapons. If she could get her hands on one of those rifles the guards had she would be able to watch that whole two miles plus around this place. She was a crack shot with a rifle and it would take some serious skills to get up on them with out her being able to spot them. She of course still would have to make sure anyone was a threat before shooting, as she wasn't the type to shot an innocent person.

That was an issue for later. For now it was getting food gathered and prepared. As they finished gathering what they needed she went in and straight to getting things ready, with a bit of help from Onas of course. It didn't take long for Clair to get it all prepared and on the fire to boil for some time.

After the prep work was done she looked around the place and found a pair of bowls and set them at the table. "A good ol' fashion, home cooked meal is exactly what we need." She told him with a big smile. "Tomorrow I think we need to see if we can find any other equipment around. If there is a farm out here that means there has to be other houses as well. Maybe we can find a real weapon or if we are luckly some way to get of this rock." Her spirit had completely returned to her and she was ready to do whatever it took to get out of here.

She just had to look at it as an adventure, one that she wasn't forced in to. It would just be a show of her skills and in the end she would be fine.

[Onas Knox]

Onas and Bella ate like kings night. He hadn't been this hungry in forever, and Claira managed to make them a mighty fine watery porridge. He had three helpings. Bella was quick to bring, up the grim reality of their situation. Onas had been trying to keep her mind off of it the whole day. She was persistant. Onas thought about the logic in her statement though. If there had been a farm of this magnatude, then surely there would be another larger house further up the river.

A weapon sounded better than the farm at this point, but any additional equipment would be worth another hike. For now, he wanted to settle in and enjoy a victory. He shared his current goal with her and convinced her to stay if for only the night. Onas didn't know about the rest of the hords of sheep on top of the bluffs, but he was fairly certain that if anyone had takin this rought, they would have caught up to them by now. The sun was going down, in his mind, he tried to get the time for travel down.

He had pushed Claira pretty hard when they were hiking that day, and the jump the previous day had given them a massive head start on any would be followers. But he reasoned that if no one had caught up to them tonight, that no one would. The six on their tail would surely have given up chase at the falls. A single rucksack just wasn't that critical. Was it?

Onas sat against the wall of the decrepit little shack well into the night. The fire had long since gone out and Bella slept with but a slight wheezing breath. He dug around in the ambers of the fire, and found a few under the ashes still red. He pulled his prized cigarettes out of their place in the ruck, and fished one out, nearly singeing his goatee trying to light it. But at last he sat back again, propping his elboe against his knee, and puffed away silently. He tried to think of something nice for a change, rather than let his guts churn in fear of someone busting through the shacks flimsy door. His kukri was ever beside him, but the last thing he wanted was to need it. He thought of Blaire Valentine. The day he'd met her, the look of her face, the richness of her eyes. Despite what his friends thought, if he made it out of this mess alive, he would call on her. Even if it was a 'fool's errand'.

Thinking of Blaire inevitably lead to thinking of Victoria. She was a memory that killed it for him. Her death was a milestone in Onas' life of tragic sorrows. He never courted a woman, because he saw Vicky in each. And the thought of her, what he carried. That kind of guilt couldn't be shed. He took another drag off his cigarette. Justin knew Onas' secret. How he endured so much. Onas would not admit it to anyone, but the truth was, he longed for the end. It would be the only way to square his dept to her. He didn't care if cancer took him in the end, or a fight he couldn't overcome. One way or the other, he supposed, we will all meet our end.

Tonight was not that night though. He couldn't pay that particular debt untill his work was done, and there was still plenty left to do. Bella would need him before this was over, he contented himself with being responsible for her saftey. Untill this mess was over with. Perhaps he could buy the price of his soul, if he could do this one honorable thing. He knew the payment would be steep, but maybe this was his time to pay it, one way or the other...
