[January 5th, 2523 - Approximately 1am - Cargo Bay] It'd been four days since the thief found out that she was going to have a big job ahead of her. There hadn't' been any specifics shared yet, so she had to be ready for anything and everything. Of course now that she was aware of the job, it had her full focus. She hadn't been sleeping really, maybe an hour. Even that was restless though. Tari had been a different woman the last few days, kind of distant and quiet. She hadn't attended meals with the other crew and hadn't really talked to anyone, not even Art. Tonight was the same routine she'd been doing the last few days, her training intensified to make sure she was in the best shape for the job. A mixture of gymnastics and weight-lifting. Anything she could makeshift she did, using the catwalk hand-rails for pull-ups for example. At the moment she was doing a handstand, balancing herself while her legs did the splits. Tari lost her balance though, with a gasp she tumbled to the floor. Laying there for a moment while she took in her failure. Sighing she hit the floor lightly out of frustration, "Damn it Tari." Her voice was a mumble, scolding herself as she got to her feet. When she got to her feet she crossed her arms across her chest and paced in a circle, visibly upset with herself. ---- Outfit

Kalli had been up late, Art had gone to bed and Kalli was looking over everything in the engine room after he had. It all seemed in order and there wasn't much to do. She wiped it all down getting any spots of oil of the engine. It wasn't much but atleast it gave her something to do for the old girl.
After that she wasn't sure what to do it had been so slow around the ship since they left Newhall that she was becoming restless. For now she was just wondering around the ship. As she finally was getting ready to head to bed when she head a banging sound in the cargo bay. She made he way out to the catwalk and noticed Tari laying on the ground. She had noticed a marked chance since the new year and was wondering what was going on.
She figured for sure that Tari would be leaving the ship next chance she got she had grown cold to the crew. Kalli found herself feeling a little sad at that idea. People always came and when on ships but it had stated to feel like a family here and she didn't like the idea of lossing a family memeber even though she didn't really ever have the chance to get to know Tari. She had been with the crew for a few months but it always seemed one or the other was busy when they could have had a chance to talk.
Kalli walked down the catwalk over to her. "Tari... is everything alright?" She asked as she leaned down and offered her a hand. "You seem like something has been bothering you lately." She took hold of her in an effort to help pull her back to her feet.

Tari hadn't noticed the second mechanic come down, she was too caught up in her head. Did the Trinity really need two mechanics though? Forget it, topic for another time. When Kalli spoke it startled her just a bit, shaking her out of the daze she was in. The woman was concerned for her? Why? They hadn't really talked much at all since Tari had come aboard the ship. She assumed Kalli would be happy that she hadn't been down in the engine room hanging around her fellow mechanic.
The thief sighed, she didn't know who knew what about the job. Sidney never said. "Everything is fine Kal, really." She gave her best reassuring smile, it was rather poorly executed. Tari was never good at long term interaction with people, never stayed in one place for long. Until now. For some reason she was comfortable on the Trinity, but this was the first time she was preparing for a job too. Changing her patterns and such was a work in progress. Perhaps by the next job she'd handle her focus better. Maybe.
For now though the crew would just have to bare with her on this, "I'm just...focused. The upcoming job and all, ya know?" Tari had stopped pacing, she was fiddling with her hair a little now. Did she need to change the subject? Despite the late hour it would be the first actual conversation she'd have had with Kalli. "So..what're you doing up at this hour?"

Kalli was glad she was alright she wasn't sure but it seemed like something had been bothering Tari and she was a little worried. She did wonder wha had her so focused and what her part in the job was. she only heard a little bit about what they would be doing in the job but she wasn't to worried abut it Sidney didn't seem to worked up about the job so she wasn't either.
"Well I figured I would check on how Trinity was doing but it seems she is fine. And well I guess I just couldn't sleep." She told her in responce to her question. "What exactly has you up this late?" Kalli sat down on the edge of the catwalk letting her feet dangle over the side and looked out over the cargo bay not saying a thing for just a little while. "You know you don't have to keep it all to yourself. The crew is like a family, were here to take care of each other. If there is anything I can do just let me know." Kalli could tell she was just smiling so Kalii wouldn't worry but that only made her worry more.

"Yeah, us staying in the air is a rather good thing." So Kalli was having trouble sleeping too huh. Well at least they had that in common, "Pretty much same as you in fact, haven't been able to sleep. Course I don't usually sleep very long anyway, but even less long the last few days." She went over and sat next to Kalli, not too close though. Looking up at her when she spoke again, ending the odd silence that had lasted a few moments.
Tari let a real smile tug at her lips only just, Kalli seemed like a genuinely nice girl. Not a common find in the 'verse these days. "I'm learning that, slowly, but still. I've never relied on anyone, nor stuck around the same place long enough to even think about calling anyone friend or family." She sighed softly, "Thank you Kalli, I do appreciate the offer. With time maybe, for now you guys just have to put up with me." Tari gave the girl a grin. Hopefully that helped clear some things up, she wasn't going anywhere, she was just different until the job was done. When there was something that called for her focus, that was the only thing in the world on her mind. Not even the dashing handsome-ness of Art had swayed her focus.

Kalli could understand Taris cautious nature when it came to trusting people. Most people were that way Kalli though well she trusted people to easy. She had no sence about her when it came to knowing when people lied to her or if they were able to be trusted. She still believed in the fact that all people were good until they proved themselves otherwise.
At least now though Tari knew that Kalli was someone she could talk to, sure it will take time but she will learn that Kalli is there when needed. "Don't feel rushed we'll be here when ever you do feel ready." She said trying to comfort her. She didn't want her to feel pressured to talk. Kalli kind of felt unsure the first time she became part of a crew too. This time though, on the Trinity, she had Sid there.
They had known each other back on the Orlando that made a big differance. It made it eaiser to settle in on the Trinity. "So have you every been on a ship before, or have you never really left Osiris before. It can be had being away from home." Kalli wondered if that might be it. Being away from home was hard for her infact it was still hard for her.

Tari had been put into an odd situation, by herself of all people. Sidney had a hand in it though, but he couldn't have known what affect the promise of a job would have on the young thief. With Kalli's conversation it seemed she just thought there was something wrong with her. Hopefully that's what the others thought as well. Her focus had caused her to drop her 'Osiris rich girl' act, she hadn't even realized it until just now.
She genuinely appreciated the fact that Kalli had taken the time to talk to her, offer her confidence and all. "I've done a little here and there to help with the jobs you guys get, but this next one I think will be my chance to actually do something. I want to be ready you know?" Truth. Mostly. Except Tari knew it would be her chance. They hadn't actually needed her skills before.
Tari moved some of her hair from her face while Kalli asked her things, things she was sure how much to lie about. She had to keep up the act though, otherwise it could go badly for the thief. It'd been sorta luck that they all didn't know already, Sid needed her for the job. If he didn't though..would he have told the crew what he knew? "I've been on a few ships before, but nothing this long term. I usually just ended up back home after a couple weeks. I do feel a bit home-sick every so often though."
