The entrance of Connor was certainly serendipitous; Ari was almost at the breaking point. As much as she loved her job aboard the Atlas and did not want to jeopardize it, the urge to hit Ursula was almost overpowering her good sense. As Connor spoke to her, she lifted her chin and snorted as the tension in her body slowly eased. He was right, of course. She was really letting Ursula get to her, and there was no reason to. It wasn't as if she actually cared what the Companion thought; she just couldn't bear to be insulted. Her pride was too great.
Although Connor was saying things Ari herself would never voice, she couldn't help but snicker. Connor was new on the ship, and none of them knew him too well, but it was obvious he was not afraid to be vulgar and insulting to a Companion. Ari was impressed in spite of the horrible things he was saying. If she was being honest with herself, it felt good to see Ursula knocked down a few pegs. So surprised was she by the onslaught of insults, though, that she said not a word at first. Connor pulled out a knife and Ari tensed once more, instinctively, until she realized he was only using it to intimidate Ursula. It was then that she realized he was addressing her. "Sure thing, Connor." She let Ursula push her away with a playful smirk. The presence of the gunhand had completely evaporated any anger she had left. "Don't wanna mess up her mascara, anyhow."
Ursula stormed out with very few words. It seemed Connor had unsettled her in ways Ari had not been able to. As Ari followed her progress from the room, she saw, to her dismay, Ryan Hannigan. Frowning, she nodded at him. "Capt'n." She turned quickly to Connor, running her hands over the pump. "So...what's the problem?" She asked, in a vain attempt to change the subject from the obvious direction Hannigan would take. This had probably been a breaking point for Ursula. Ari would be very surprised if the Companion stayed on the Atlas after this.
