Ari covered her mouth with a hand to hide a childish giggle. His worry was not comical, but rather cute. Not wanting Stoot to think she was laughing at him, she smiled and shook her head fondly. "We'll be fine, Stoot, promise." She winked up at him. In a perfect world, Ari would have loved to have a duplicate of everything as a back-up on the ship, but that would run them a pretty coin. He accepted the change in subject with grace, and she awaited his response eagerly. When it came, she wasn't so surprised, about the first half anyway. She knew how much he hated mudding.
She was about to comment, but it was obvious in his hesitation that he was going to say something else. When he admitted that meeting her was one of his happiest memories, she blushed deeply and looked at her feet shyly. There was a light fluttering in her stomach, and she hugged the catalyzer to her chest as if it were a teddy bear. "How's that for a damn good mem'ry fer ya?" She looked up, meeting his eyes for a second, but he continued talking and gave her no chance to respond. However, she knew she had to answer in some way. Releasing the catalyzer with one hand, she reached out and squeezed his free hand with her own before it quickly retreated to hold the engine part once more. She just wanted to let him know she appreciated the comment, and that she was flattered, but she didn't want to embarass him.
He was moving on, beginning to ask her a question, when he paused. Her eyes flicked up to his in confusion, and she followed his gaze with narrowed eyes to the figure in the street. In the same motion, her left hand instinctively supported the part as her right hand slid inconspicuously to hover over the gun in her waistband.
ooc: oh nos, what's happening? lol
