Full Name: Jimskol
Nicknames: The Engineer
Age:843
Gender:M
Race: Time Lord 7th Regeneration
Allegiance: The Time Lord High Council (somewhat)
Face Claim: Michael C. Hall
Style: Wears simple clothes and doesn't like to be two showy. Will wear button up shirts or polos and long pants, usually cargo pants for the extra pockets. He doesn't like to to war suits or t-shirts because he considers them either to formal or not formal enough. He would say, "Polo and cargo pants is perfect for ANY situation formal or not."
He likes to keep his appearance looking good but is not obbsessive. He somehow manages a continuous 5 o'clock shadow. He spends time on his hair and will ofte use more high end shampoos and conditioners. He carries around a peice of psychic paper in the form of a badge around his neck. His cargo pants have pockets that are slightly larger on the inside and he uses them to carry various items that are sometimes considered random.
When dressing for a specific occasion, he will often overdo it though. He tends to go to extremes such as wearing too many layers when it is supposed to be cold or wearing a monocle when he was invited to an opera.
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Personality: Uncertain is a good descriptor of the Engineer. He is unsure of his loyalties and he is worried about the future of the Universe. He had pledged his loyalty to the Time Lord council but often finds he disagrees with them. The idea of creating a universe wide paradox machine causes him discomfort because he knows that he shouldn’t exist in this universe. Although he is often a little fidgety, when things get serious, so can he. Otherwise, his confidence was eroded a lot when he lost his wife.
He often puts on a show of flirting with women but will stop things before they can get serious. This is because he still mourns his lost wife. The death of his wife also gave him an intense and almost irrational hatred of the Daleks. They are one of the reasons why he continues to design weaponry to fight them. He finds guns to be useful in some situation because he feels they put people on an even level.
He will often make bad jokes and is somewhat awkward around his peers at Torchwood. He likes taking unsanctioned trips through time and space despite the Council’s directives for him to stay where he is. He considers classic rock to be the best music invented by humans and has taken more than a few of these trips to go to concerts.
He easily gets excited by technology, especially if it is particularly advanced for those who invented it. He will often go off on tangents and loves telling of his past adventures. He is often prone to telling mistruths, as they are part of his current job with the Council. He is exceptionally good at hiding his true motivations.
He considers protecting life to be his strongest moral, though he goes about it in an unusual way. He designs weapons so that people may defend their own lives and take the lives of the aggressors. With the exception of Daleks, cybermen and some of the others that have shown no motivation to preserve life, he will not kill. If he finds that someone has caused too much harm to others, used his weapons for aggressive purposes or generally shown a contempt for life, he will often imprison them at various points in time and space.
History: The First 500 years of his life were pretty uneventful. He went to the Academy where he focused on science and technology. He graduated with top marks. He had a pretty basic childhood and early adulthood. From ages 528 to 637 he worked designing TARDIS components and repairing ones that had been broken. He had an affinity for it and designed stabilization features and new chameleon circuits that were less likely to break. However and accident when trying to create a new concept he had been working on, his work station exploded and the first Engineer died.
The Second Engineer continued the work for a little while but after a few years got bored. He designed, what he considered to be, the best TARDIS he could design. He then took it and began exploring time and space. He often gave his talents to those he found interesting. He designed weapons for the Sontarans, worked for the Romans as an engineer for the Coliseum. He lost his TARDIS for 15 years when he had a run in with some Weeping Angels in 1980, and was sent by them back to 1845. He used period technology and built what could only be described as a steam-punk time machine to go back and get his TARDIS. However he liked the steam punk design so he incorporated it in to his more advanced version. He also took the time to place the Angel statues facing each other and put a beehive in there so that some animal was around to look at them. He eventually made his way back to the Sontaran and was summarily executed because one of his weapons was involved in a lost battle. He managed to stumble to the TARDIS and set it going before he died.
The Third Engineer was now 703 years old. This time he stuck to Earth for a while, he worked as Davinci’s assistant and aided him in some of his designs. However, he got bored and decided he needed to find a better time period. After traveling around for a few years, trying to find a god time period to relax in a glitch in his TARDIS landed him in World War 2, in the middle of a battle. He stepped out and was hit with crossfire. He was now 717.
The Fourth Engineer stumbled about in the TARDIS and quickly left the area but only traveled through space to a few miles from the battlefield. He was helped by a French woman. He was weakened by this regeneration and after a couple days and lots of tea; he was back to full health. He got to know the woman, named Catherine, and after a few weeks they both left in the TARDIS. She was his first companion and he enjoyed showing her the world. After 4 years, they went back to when they left and got married. The continued to explore the universe and she gave birth to the Engineer's son. He wasn't sure but he figured that this was probably the only half human/half time lord out there. They tried not to get involved in the affairs of planets and generally liked to just see the sights. However, this happy life changed when the Engineer finally met the Daleks. He and his family were relaxing on a planet that through some odd geology was mode only of beaches and water. The planet had a thriving, intergalactic tourist industry. The Daleks attacked, screaming "Exterminate" and destroying the population of the planet. He and his family tried to flee but they were all killed. He was now 742.
The fifth regeneration was born from violence and hatred for the Daleks. He returned to Gallifrey and pledged himself to the military, trying to design weapons to destroy the Daleks. He designed a weapon that would be incorporated in to the device that would eventually end the time war. He often volunteered to go on attacks on the Daleks and on one of these attacks he was killed again. He was now 762.
The 6th regeneration had lost some of the cynicism that had plagued his previous incarnation. He continued to design weapons and TARDIS technology but began refocusing on the latter. He was asked to join the CIA and he did. He was sent to spy on various people and species throughout the universe, but he realized soon that they were trying to keep him away from the war. They thought he was unstable and didn't want him to interfere with the war. He took some time to visit the graves of his wife and son and that redoubled his determination against the Daleks. He continued to work on a device that could end the Time War, conclusively. It was difficult because he kept getting moved around. He spoke to the council and asked to be taken out of the CIA. They agreed on the condition that he continued to work for the council. He reluctantly agreed. He began to go on attacks on Daleks again but was more careful now. He was eventually involved in a battle with both the Nightmare Child, the Could've been King and the Cybermen. It was one of the deadliest battles of the war. Entire planets were caught in the crossfire. Some timelord went through several regenerations in the battle and many died permanently. He went died and was now 840.
He is now on his seventh regeneration and was sent to Earth by the Time Lord council. He has been working undercover to find information about Torchwood by working with them. They know he is a Time Lord but do not know he is there by the Council's discretion. He is becoming increasingly dissatisfied with the council for its recent actions and is unsure how loyal he intends to stay.
Roleplay Sample:
The Engineer walked in to his lab at Torchwood. He had been working there for a few months now and had been making progress on a new invention. It was tough work to design thing for them as he had to keep it at their technology level. This meant that he had to use archaic methods that he was slightly unfamiliar with.He considered leaving early to go to Woodstock again but decided against it. He had already been there twice and didn't want to cause any problems with his past self. Right now.
He had just had a breakthrough designing a faster firing mechanism on a machine gun but he needed another part to finish it. His TARDIS was nearby, disguised as a large refrigerator in the corner of the lab. He didn't need to keep it disguised but the chameleon circuit automatically had done it. He opened the door and stepped in. He had recently redesigned the interior to have more light and lighter colored walls. It looked like people from the fifties had designed a room for the year 2000. It had circles everywhere and metallic colors. He ran over to his tool room and grabbed a screwdriver ad an aluminum can. He pried off the metal tab and dropped the can and screwdriver back in to the room.
Arriving back at his work station, he put the metal tab in to place and picked up the gun. He pressed a button on the wall and a target was lowered on to the wall. He fired a burst at the target and then inspected it.
"Increased firing speed and reduced recoild, you are welcome," he said in to an intercom nearby. One of the higher ups and Torchwood came in and looked at the target.
"You only shot one bullet, how do you know about the firing speed from that?" he said looking at the small hole in the target.
"Actually that was a 6 round burst all hitting the same spot. Like I said, reduced recoil," he said with a smile. He was almost giddy about his success. "Now if you don't mind I have have a concert I'm late for," he said running to the TARDIS and giving a quick informal salute.
