Arabella was looking out her window. It was nearly time for her to head downstairs. Then she’d start this new life. A new life she didn’t want. Yes, Ashton was rather good looking and had a kind heart at times-but he wasn’t for her. They had been friends once upon a time, but…he had different plans. He was government bound, like his father. Arabella didn’t believe in what the Alliance wanted or have done. But she generally didn’t call herself an Independent either. She was just Arabella.
A ladies maid came by to double check her hair and make-up. ‘Perfect’, was what Arabella heard. If only perfect meant being a prisoner to this life, then yes, everything was perfect. She vaguely found her way downstairs. Along the way, her eyes found Kylie. She could have least gotten a message to her brother and the crew that she wasn’t hurt. Arabella would find her own way to escape again-even if she became a run-a-way wife. She’d find her way out once she had the chance. All she wanted was that her new friend and crew knew not to worry.
Another maid came up with an extravagant bouquet for Arabella. There were women she didn’t know who were in her bridal party. The maid-of-honor some obscure relative she hardly saw. They were all dressed how her grandmother had dressed them. Arabella was as well. Everything was the doing of her grandmother-including the marriage. Through the glass door, she could just make out the guests and groom’s party along with her future husband. Her head shook from side to side in disgust. Out of the corner of her eye she could just make out Kyle watching her intently. He had a sly smile on his face. She turned away and fidgeted with the flowers. Anything to delay what had to be done. She had to wait for her grandmother either way before they could begin.
