(OOC: Closed, just a bit of exposition to try my hand at things. Feel free to add comments or insights.)
November 5th, 2520...
--------------------
Jamie sat at the docks, waiting for his ship to arrive. He didn't even remember what kind of ship it was, or what it looked like. Hell, he'd only bought the tickets a few hours ago. Sort of a birthday present to himself. For two years he'd struggled to make heads or tails of everything, listening to patriots, listening to Browncoats, trying to make his own decisions about everything, about Miranda, about the Uprising.
It was Jamie's 20th birthday, and his parents had kicked him out the night before. He'd been trying to save up for his own place, a nice lake-side apartment. He almost had enough to buy his own gorram ship, start running packages from world to world in his own rig, without having to rent one. The money would have been fantastic, but ..
He just couldn't stay here anymore. Not just on Ariel. In the Core. Liars all around him, and ignorant schmucks who couldn't see past their own faces. The Alliance had been deceiving everybody, and Jamie felt like he was the only one who could see it on this gorram world. At times he felt like he was taking crazy pills. Maybe everyone was right, maybe he was wrong, or over reacting. Maybe --
No. 'I can't afford to think like that,', he thought to himself. 'The Alliance kept everybody in the dark about something this big. About Miranda. They won't even admit that the Reavers are a real threat, even after everything. It's time to leave. To start fresh, out there. It may not be pretty, and it gorram sure won't be easy, but I can't stay here, pretend like everything's okay. I've got to make my own way, and no matter what, I won't do it living under Alliance rule anymore.'
It was 22:30. His ship was arriving just then, to take him to Persephone and a new life. He'd been a patriot, and cherished the Alliance for his entire life. The fact that they weren't who he thought they were crushed him, but he'd show them. He'd make it without them, and he'd stick it to 'em every gorram chance he had.
They would pay. He didn't know how, but some day, he would make them pay for deceiving him, and every other honest citizen that lived in blissful igorance.
