Tristram stood in the middle of the street. "What the... Where in the hell is that gorram ship?" He should have known better than to leave while he was drunk. If he'd just waited, he would have been able to find his way back, no problem. But nooo, he had to go off half cocked, and now where was he? Lost. Sure, he knew where he was, but as far as finding that damn Firefly, he had about a snowman's chance in Hell. He set down his bags and tried to get his bearings. "Now, we went from the bar to the ship, and from the ship..." He screwed up his face. He had no idea where to go from there. "Maybe I should go back to the bar and try to retrace my steps from there. Yeah! That will work!"
He picked up his bags and started off towards the bar. The whole way over he was running through whatever details he could remember. It was giving him quite the headache. Well, that and the whiskey from earlier. He set his bags down again, leaning his beat up guitar case against the wall of the bar, and sat against it himself, rubbing his temples. "Just when I thought I was having some luck..."

After the funeral, Dani had wandered back to the ship and taken refuge in her room for some time. The pilot lay on her bed, still fully dressed and without removing her boots. She still did not know how she was supposed to feel about James' death. Pain, sadness, grieving? They were lost on her. All she felt was a bit of emptiness where she had once compartmentalized him in her mind, but that emptiness was horrible in itself. Never again would she hear his voice. She would have felt a lot better about it all if she could feel the sadness the others were clearly feeling. Even to someone who could not read subtle nuances and emotions, the air on the Trinity was thick with the loss of its captain. She shredded quite a few toothpicks between her teeth as she lay there.
After some time, she peeked out of her room and glanced around. When she saw no one, she quickly slipped out and down through the cargo hold, leaving the ship without having to run into anyone. So far, though there were some on the ship who seemed to find her strange, no one had quite figured out how far from normal she was. Dani wanted to keep it that way.
Tucking another toothpick into her mouth, she swept back her hair with one bony hand and glanced around the docks as she walked. A man by the bar caught her attention, simply because of the lost look on his face. Dani secretly was attracted to people who were lost; she identified most with them. "Hey," she said, rolling the toothpick from one side of her lips to the other. "What seems to be the problem?" She had an odd way of starting conversations. To be fair, she had an odd way of carrying on conversations; it wasn't just the beginning parts she had trouble with. It may have been endearing how socially inept she was if it wasn't for the unsettling habit she had of staring at people with wide, earnest eyes. As if she wanted to learn everything, to not miss a blink of an eye or a breath of air.

"Hey, what seems to be the problem?"
Startled, Tristram looked up at the girl standing in front of him. She was a delicate looking thing, almost pixie like. She was cute enough, but what really caught his attention were her eyes. It was almost as if she was looking into his very being. It unsettled him slightly, but he shrugged it off. Everyone had their quirks. He stood up with a laugh. "Well, I left a ship completely hammered, and now I can't seem to find my way back." A sheepish grin spread across his face. "I don't suppose you would happen to know where a boat called 'Trinity', would you? It's a Firefly class." He highly doubted she would know exactly where, but he figured she might be able to point him in the right direction. She seemed like she genuinely wanted to help. "I'm Tristram, by the way. Figure it's only right we should know one another's names." He extended his hand.

Dani chewed thoughtfully on her toothpick as he studied her, not self-conscious in the least. She probably did not know how to even be embarrassed. When he laughed and stood fully, she took a step back and shoved her hands into her pockets. He was attractive as well, but she rarely noticed that sort of thing.
His story made her nose wrinkle in the slightest show of humor and she arched an eyebrow. "Drunk, huh? Can't say I know how that feels." True, she'd had a few mugs of beer here and there, but had never been inebriated. His next words clearly caught her off-guard, though surprise was too strong a word. "Trinity? What do you want with our ship?" She asked, not in suspicion but in curiosity.
When he introduced himself and held out a hand, she met his grip with a small but calloused hand. "Dani. Kingsley. I suppose it is only right if we're heading to the same place. I'll take you right there, if you like," she added, obviously with no fear as to his motives whatsoever. She did not seem to have any weapons on her, but she carried herself like someone with very strong control of her wiry body.

"Trinity? What do you want with our ship?"
"I'm the new gunhand." A puzzled look crossed the young man's face. "Our ship? She can't be..."
"Dani. Kingsley. I suppose it is only right if we're heading to the same place. I'll take you right there, if you like,"
Tristram picked up his bags. "After you." He was surprised by her willingness to help. Most people either shrugged him off or were too scared to approach him. He couldn't blame them, considering he was armed to the teeth everytime he went out. No, this one wasn't scared at all. She had a strength underneath those wide eyes and that small form. If she really was one of the crew, he wouldn't mind one bit. She carried herself with a sort of confidence that Tristram recognized almost immediately upon meeting her. He got the feeling that when push came to shove, he could count on her to have his back.
