Halloween Event I am setting up a Halloween event that I will get started as of today and last through Halloween. It is simple really it will be everyone walking up somewhere on the (crappy) map I have set up for a bit of reference. after everyone has had a small chance to ready themselves they will be attacked by zombie hordes. As it is a zombie situation it doesn't really fit in to the reality of Firefly so it will be a "Dream" type situation. You will wake up in your dream in the area and then the fun will ensue. With that I will go in to a simple set of rules Rules 1) The story will take place in the area listed in the map. I will have several locations set up but as there are a few free buildings fell free to play off one of those if you like make them what you want. 2) Duke Rider will be starting as zombies to get things rolling. I suggest you get posting quick as I am not going to way more to long to start moving with Duke. Good luck 3) once you are bite feel free to post a time or two more before changing to a zombie. (unless you are ripped to shreds of course) 4) If you are turned feel free to keep playing as a zombie or just have your character wake from the dream or you can simply stop posting with them if you want. 5) None of the ships are able to fly so done worry about trying to leave. mwahahaha. 6) feel free to start with weapons but only ones that your character would be likely to have from time to time. 7) Make friends fast and have fun. The Setting The setting is at dusk on Miranda. All the ships will be scattered through out the area but the only ship that has the hatched open is the Orlando. The power is off in the ship so it is quite dark and the main cargo hatch can't be closed without the power. There are several other buildings in the area that can be used to hide out in along with a large government research facility where the infected are coming from. most of the she are in disrepair and on fire for cinematic effect other then that just have fun and make up what you see as you go . I'll get the starting few threads set up in just a little while so we can begin.

Don't know if anyone will read this or not, but, here goes anyway. My first RP experiences, and to date the most satisfying, were zombie based. Thus, my normal crew of rp'rs and I became excellent zombie killers. And Z day story tellers. I only mention it because we had a unique spin on the apocalyptic styles that good ol' shamblers tend to bring. And I offer it now for our event; our Zombie progression chart.
Before I continue, the only way to kill a zombie, is to snap its neck, or massive trauma to the brain. No amount of blood loss, or starvation will work. Also it is a good idea to note that all zombies attack in a liquid manner. This means they mold to you, if you push their right shoulder back, their left shoulder simply comes closer. If you push there forhead back, they will attempt to bite your forearm. Anything is an opening. The best way to kill any of these, is fast, from very far away. ;D
As a human being ages, it becomes smarter, and learns. This is known as progression. As a zombie ages, it gets less intelligent. This is known as degeneration. The brain begins to decompose, and memories are lost as that part of the brain fades with simple time. This means two things. One, you could potentially 'outlive' the apocalypse, adding a reason to try. And two, the new zombies are far worse than older ones, as I will now explain...
Newly turned zombie:
We called 'em sprinters. These are the worst, most dangerous and hardest to kill. When first turned, the undead can sprint, jump, climb, open and shut doors, will 'think' to look through windows and break through them, and will hunt down those they knew best, as they will be the most present thought on the zombie's mind. They moan constantly, and when alerted, they scream, drawing the attention of others around them. Plus fresh zombies are constantly hungry.
Six months or older:
We called 'em walkers. These are still dangerous, but they have forgotten how to run, or climb, or open doors. They react mostly on sight, but there eyes are terrible, and their smell is non-exsistint. They also react heavily on sound, this remains the most outlived piece of any zombie detection. They mostly just shamble at you, somewhere between a walk and a trot. A fast step will outrun them. The problem is that they don't moan anymore until they are alerted to something. Which means you won't hear them until you are right in front of them. Typically less than twenty feet, before they can recognize you as living, and react. A common way to be caught by a walker is by rounding a corner without checking it first, or by sleeping in open places.
A year or older:
We called 'em bear traps. These are literally laying on the ground doing nothing. They forgot how to walk, and just don't. You have to step on one to get a reaction, and that doesn't happen often. Though easy enough to avoid, eventually, some poor guy nudges one with his boot to see if it's dead, and gets bit, thus producing an eventual sprinter, or a fun moment for our writers, where characters decide what's morally right or wrong about killing a team member who has been bitten.
Two years old:
These are too far gone to be of concern to anyone or anything. If it's in a stagnant lake, you can even drink the water with nothing more than the usual effects of drinking stagnant water. But if you digest the body itself, you will turn. The water thing was a battle to figure out, but we settled on this idea, so the water of the world wouldn't be tainted. Otherwise, it'd all be bad, land too. No crops and no water means you couldn't survive, and that wouldn't do.
Other than that, we just leave it to your imagination. Even if nobody wants this with our current theme, then that's fine. But I encourage everyone to feel free to use it at some point in their creative writing career. I promise it's tonsoffun.

Thanks for the information Onas. I will look over having some zombies be a bit more sluggish then others to add a big of surprise in the mix. You never know exactly what zombie you will be facing.
