Eight people were rescued from the island before it vanished into thin air. The Oceanic Six, Desmond Hume and Frank Lapidus watched as the island disappeared before their eyes, leaving them stranded in the ocean. As luck would have it, Penelope Widmore, out looking for Desmond, found them and they were on their way home.
The Oceanic Six, Jack Shepherd, Kate Austen, Sayid Jarrah, Hugo Reyes, Sun-Hwa Kwon and Aaron Littleton, became famous and with such large settlements from the Oceanic airlines, they were able to live comfortably in the real world for fifteen years.
On the island, it has only been a week. A week of time traveling, not knowing when they would land after the bright light and pounding headaches would disappear and after the last flash, the people left on the island had no way of knowing that they were now fifteen years into the future. They hadn't aged a day.
Benjamin Linus, now off the island, has been aware of what has happened on the island and knows that the ones who were able to escape so long ago, now had to return or the island would not be pleased. He is now on a mission to find everyone who had left and bring them back. Some have children, some had married, and some never want to think about it, but he knows he must get them to return or else the consequences could be dire.
