After a long night of drinking and talking Killian was up before the sun. He was always an early riser and ajusted to each planets time nearly instantly. The rest of the crew who knows. He spent sveral hurs looking over all the equipment that they would be taking. Greenleaf was a dangerous planet and it was always good to be ready for anything.
He had told the crew the night before to get everything they needed in order and to make sure they were at least armed with a pistol. He hadn't made to much note of it as this was a simple medical run so there shouldn't be anything major to worry about other then maybe the wildlife.
Shortly after the sun rose in the sky the rest of the crew began to arrive in the Cargo bay. Both mules were already off loaded from there storage crane and at the ramp ready to roll. "Morning, hope we all slept well." He said as they all made heir way down there to meet him. "I hope we didn't over do it last night be got a busy day aheead of us."
After a few minutes they were loaded up and on their way to the pick up site. It was nly ten miles out from their location but it took nearly an hour to get there through the weaving paths up the cliff face to the facility. As they arrived they found no one at the gates to greet them. The goate itself was unlocked and seemed to have been forced open.

Friedrich had only gotten a few hours sleep. The demands of the ship kept him from truly drifting off. Instead, he had spent the early morning at work inside the engine doing all the things he had wished to have had time to do the last time they shut it all down while still in space. Tending to the needs of the ship was relaxing and it also lifted the weight on his shoulders if only slightly. There was work to be done and he was hard at work doing it.
The appropriate hour for the ships' job approached faster than Friedrich had expected and thus he was a bit late in mustering. Luckily the captain had some forethought and ordered them to have their things prepared the night before just in case there were any late starts that would prevent a prompt departure. The captain had also said for all of them to be armed. What exactly that meant, Friedrich was unsure so he prepared as if he were stepping through a portal thirteen years into the past.
The mechanic entered the cargo bay dressed for the jungle from his patrol cap down to his boots. His belt and chest rig were filled with tools and other minor equipment the mechanic might also be called on to use but also spare ammunition. His pistol sat prominently in his thigh holster and to top it all off, Friedrich had an assault rifle slung over his shoulder, a bit of a luxury item he had stored within his belongings.
The others no doubt would be surprised by his appearance but nonetheless he got to work making sure the mules were ready to go before they all headed off on the long trip just a short ways.

Amaya had stayed up late with everyone else enjoying the time to relax. Unfortunately the morning was an early one and she was not ready for it, but she had little choice so she was up and getting ready early. Unlike Friedrich she wasn't as practical about what she wore. She instead opted for something that was appealing. They were only making a simple run to pick up medical supplies. She did however opt to go with boots instead of wearing heels like she normally would. She was still a business woman and had to look her best, just in case there was potential for business. Though that would be a little rough with the commando in the group. She made her way down to the cargo bag just a little while after Friedrich had. "Good morning Captain.." She hesitated a moment. "Well Friedrich I see you are prepared for a whole new war." She smiled at him as she walked over toward them. She had also packed a weapon per request of the captain. A simple .38 Special tucked in the back of her skirt. It was the only weapon she had though she would prefer something a bit smaller really she had decided on buying this one as it at least had a bit of stopping power to it. It wasn't long and the crew set out on their job. After the long boring ride out to the site they finally stopped. Killian had drove one of the Mules while Friedrich manned the other. She had opted to ride along with Friedrich and the other on the back of the mule with Killian. When they arrived everything was quiet. She hopped down from the mule and went to the gate noticing right away it seemed tampered with. "So Captain is the gate supposed to be busted open or is this something special for us." She didn't puller he weapon yet as there was no sign of real trouble and odds where the gate had been knocked open many times before by people looking to steal a thing or two. That kind of thing happened out here and defiantly at places like this. "How about one of you fine men take the lead and I'll just stay right behind ya." She said jokingly but with a small touch of seriousness. -------------------- Outfit

Cadan and Layla had arrived the night before on the ship, the Jade Princess. Cadan had immediately contacted the Killian Bernett, the captain of the ship they were to be taking up residence on. He was going to be their pilot along with renting the shuttle of the ship from them. He hadn't worked out all the details yet but that could be settled later.
When he talked to the captain there was a lot of noise in the background, probably the rest of the crew, they seemed to be enjoying themselves. Layla and Cadan's time hadn't been so jovial, with the loss of James and all. Their time on the Trinity was cut brief by all the events that passed. Surely it was best they were gone from there. The captain had asked them to meet him and his crew out at the medical supplies refinery just outside of town. Cadan had rented a mule in town that night so they would be ready to go in the morning.
The distance was short but the ride was quite long from the old Independent Camp turn town they were staying at. Hell's Bluff was the name of the small town, they said it was named after the unit that built the old camp, the 217th Hellspawn, an Independent unit that spent a year or so out here in the jungles. An unpleasant name for such an unpleasant place. Cadan was more then glad to get out of the place.
They loaded up on the Mule in the early hours of the morning and set out for the facility. "'a ya feelin' today love?" He asked knowing exactly how she was feeling. There was a heavy weight on both of them but the his was more the burden of feeling responsible while hers was surely that of what would seem like an insurmountable loss.
Thy drove along the path for nearly an hour till they finally arrived. It couldn't hve been more then five minutes behind the others. They were still standing at the gate, seemingly puzzled about something. "Day's Dawnin' everyone, ya must be killian correct?" He said as he shut the engine off to the mule then hopped off. "This 'ere is layla."

Layla had been in a daze ever since the events that had gone down on the Trinity. James was gone. Her brother. Her only family. She loved Cadan but James had done so much for her, and he was her blood. She felt lost, just going through the motions of the day to day events. It had been best that they leave the ship, especially since they would head back to Hera for James' funeral. Which of course would go poorly for Layla since the rest of her family had no idea she was alive. She did make sure to leave Sidney a note, pretty much begging him not to make any mention of her while he met with the Clark family.
She helped load the mule with their things, what little they had. They'd need to stock up on personal belongings at some point it seemed. Good thing they had money. Once they were off Layla sat as close as she could to Cadan, leaning her head on his shoulder as he inquired about how she was feeling. "Same, I'm present and accounted for...you?"
Layla felt bad that she'd been stuck in this same rut for nearing two weeks now. She had no idea how to cope though, how to push past it. "How do you get past things like this Cadan?" She whispered in question, sighing softly.
Once they made it to the rendevue point for the Hyperion, the ship they would be joining up with, she put on a fake mask. Smiling at the new faces as Cadan introduced her to them and giving them a wave. "Nice to meet you all."

Alastair got up last out of the crew. He was hung over in a fierce way, exactly what Killian wanted them to avoid but he couldn't help himself the drinks were out on the table just begging him to partake in them.
When he finally made it to the cargo bay Fredrich and Killian had started up the mules. The noise was killer and he had an hour drive to listen to it. "Can't we do this tomorrow." He asked know the answer to it. He sluggishly slide on to the back of the mule that Killian was driving, and the journey from hell began.
When they arrived his head felt like it had been split open by an axe. THey finally came to a stop, the engines finally turned off. That was it, it was time for a nap, of course that wasn't going to happen Amaya mentioned the tampered with gate and he stood up slowly and walked over to look at it. "Yep, someone beat us here seems we need to go back to the ship." He said half joking and half serious.
Shortly there after the hum of another mule called out from behind them, most be the new members that Killian was talking about. A few seconds later they pulled up and introduced themselfs to the crew. Before Killian had a chance to speak up Alastair chimed in. "Pleasure to met you both, I am Alastair Cap'ns right hand man. We just get luckier everyday to have such beautiful company don't we now Fred." He said with a smile when he looked in Layla's direction.

Killian hopped of the mule when Amaya mentioned that the gate had been tampered with. He walked over and took a look at it. It had defiantly been forced open but there didn't seem to be anyone inside to place causing trouble. "Forrest and I will take point, lets see what we can find out."
As Kilian began to speak the sound of the other mule closed in on them. Killian turned around wand waited assuming it was the new crew. After a moment the thought was confirmed. After a quick exchange of names by the new couple and Alastair Killian walked over to them both extending his hand to greet them. "you are correct. You must be Mr. and Mrs. Ashdown. It's a pleasure to meet. you."
After the quick meeting he turned his attention back to the gate. "It seems you two showed up just in time. We are ready to go in and get the cargo now." Killian swung the gate open and began to walk in. They would leave the Mules here the facility would have fork lifts to bring the cargo to them. Now all they had to do was find someone in the place to help them. "Greeting, Anyone around." He called out to make their presence know.
The place was hard to see as there was a layer of fog covering the first four feet of the ground not to mention the place was literally in the clouds. Patched of white flowing in and out of the place obstructing the view more oten then not. Killian lead them toward the main buildig of the place slowly as not to trip himself up.

Something was wrong. The place was either broken into or just in an awful state of disrepair. The others seemed nervous though they masked it with humor. Friedrich stepped forward to investigate for the others. Nothing seemed to be an imminent threat for the moment, the place seemed dead. The only sound was of an approaching vehicle behind them.
It turned out just to be their new crew joining them as expected, a young couple. The man's accent was odd, which is saying something coming from Friedrich with his own difficulties mastering pronunciation. Yes, communication would likely become an even bigger issue having to do double the translation to figure out what this man was saying.
Alastair made a comment to him about the girl. Nothing about it went over well with the mechanic. She was probably half Alastair's age and apparently already married to the man she came with according to the captain's statement. On top of it, he had referred to Friedrich as Fred... for a man that wasn't quick to anger, that was one of the few things he actually hated. It was a butchering of his name. He was Friedrich, not the anglicized Fredrick and thus neither Fred nor Rick. It wasn't the easiest name for others to say but that's why he always offered to be called by his last name, or even just the shortened 'Hoff' as they called him in the war.
"Friedrich Hoffman." he said as an introduction to the newcomers, making sure to emphasize the pronunciation of his first name. Further introductions would have to wait as they turned to the mission at hand. The mechanic stepped back from the lead as Forrest and Killian moved up to point and entered the facility.

The new crew arrived and everyone else having already introduced herself finished off the rounds. "Amaya Hayashi. Call me Amaya, no need to be to formal." She stated with a friendly wave.
Then she turned to follow the captain in through the gate keeping close by to Alastair and Friedrich. She looked back to the newcommer and waved them to come along. Hardly a full introduction to what was going on but surely the captain had already informed them of the job at hand.
The fog made it hard to make anything out but as they closed in the front of the main building became apprent. When they arrived and stopped at the door Amaya proceeded to open the front door and walk in. The fog sworled in with them as they entered the long corridor. The resessed floresent lighting barely light the place with only every third light on the ceiling actually turned on. Down the hall was an open room at the other end with a flickering light and the unclear figure of a person sitting at a desk with their head resting on it could be seen. "Well isn't this just warm and inviting." She said sarcasticly to cover her unease about the place.
It seemed as if something had to be wrong, definatly wrong. She waited there at the inside of the door for the rest of the crew to enter. Her hand now resting on her .38 special that was tucked in her skirt. There had been no reason to pull it yet but she felt the need to be ready to do so now. "Killian is there something you didn't tell us about this job. Like it is the set of a horror movie as well?"

Before they arrived
Cadan tried to keep his face from showing his own sadness. He wanted to make things better but there wasn't much of a way to do that. "Time, and just trustin' we will get through this." He replied to her question.
This wasn't something you ever truely got over. He had lost his mother a few years ago and he still hadn't forgotten the pain. He had learned to live with it over time and accept that he couldn't change things. "I'll be 'ere for ya. i'll 'elp 'owever I can layla." He reached one hand back behind him as they sped along wrapping it behind him to hold on to her for a moment. Something, anything to show he cared and that his words were true. ----------------------------------------------------
Cadan acknowlaged each and every introduction skaing hands where they were offered. "Pleasure ter met ya aw." He replied back after all the introductions where through. It was brief and to the point. He now had a name to go with each face.
With the signal from Amaya for them to follow Cadan offered a hand to Layla to get off the mule then they proceeded to take up the rear as they walked in to the facility. Cadan had hear that greenleaf's weather was troublesome but this was far beyond anything he would have expected. The fog was almost thick enough to swim through.
When they did get tot he dorr to the plae it was unlocked and Amaya lead the way in. Cadan let the others enter first then of course being polite and letting Layla enter before him as well. When he stepped in he thought the politeness to be a little less deserving. He had allowed them all to enter a dimal place before him.
A creeping feeling of dread crossed over him. This place was definatly not the kind of place they should be. Cadan, still hadn't gotten himself a weapon and hadn't expected to need it for a job like this. Pick-up medical good, then fly them to Ariel, how hard could it be. Cadan stepped forward and began to walk down the hallway. There was a door on each side bout half way down. Just before the doors Cadan stopped. "'ey, we 'ere for the medical supplies. where do we need ter be." He yelled out to the man at the desk but recieved no responce, it was as if the man was sdead he was so still.

Earlier...
They had come without warning, swiftly and methodically infiltrating and overrunning the compound. At the first gunshots, Gabriel had run out into one of the hallways to see what was happening. The first thing he witnessed was one of the compound guards being mowed down by a hail of gunfire. Diving into a side room, he had hid for the rest of the commotion. It couldn't have been more than five minutes before the attackers were gone.
Gabriel slinked out of his hiding place and checked the supply room, letting loose a slew of Chinese swearwords. It was all gone. All of the medicine, all of the plasma; they even took the bandages. He'd been hired on to make sure the supplies made their way to Ariel without spoiling, but whoever had just raided the building had lifted it all.
His swearing must have been heard, as a woman yelled out for him to help. Turning out of the room, he followed the voice to see a woman cradling the head of one of the security guards, as he bled freely from a gunshot wound. Putting the supplies out of his mind and rolling up his sleeves, Gabriel sprang into action. "It's going to be okay. Here, let me see your hand. I need you to hold pressure, here." Gabriel guided the woman's hands over the wound and sprint back to his quarters to grab his med bag, which luckily had not been taken. More survivors began to trickle out, some injured some just shaken. Gabriel quickly set up a makeshift operating room in one of the side rooms and began to go to work.
Present...
"That should just about do it," Gabriel said, tying off the sling on the security captain. The man was a tough old bird, and had elected for no anesthetic when Gabriel had cleaned out the laser wound. Instead he held a gun in his other hand, trained on the sole live attacker left behind. Gabriel chuckled. "Captain, that man is under enough sedative right now that if he tried anything foolish, he'd be more of a danger to himself than you."
"Better safe than sorry, doc," The grizzled older man replied. "Waste of meds if you ask me, should have let the hwun dan* suffer."
The bandit had been shot in the back and Gabriel believed that he had suffered spinal damage and would be paralyzed from the waist down. The doctor shook his head. "I'll see no man suffer. Not even a thief."
Hearing voices out near the entrance, Gabriel flashed a look at the time. 'That'll be the transport crew, then. Wonder how they'll take to finding out they have nothing to transport.' Exiting his makeshift operating room and the huddled half dozen survivors, Gabriel made his way to the front of the building. He opened the door and at the sight of drawn guns quickly called out, "Don't shoot! I'm coming out."
"Captain Bernett and crew, I assume," he greeted the assembly, wiping his bloody hands on a towel. "I'm afraid there have been some complications, as you may have gathered. We were hit hard not too long ago. All of your cargo was taken."

Alastair had walked inside the place and looked it over the place was a mess. Cadan took oof down the hall looking to find someone, and shortly after his yelling down the hall he had managed to get someone attention. A young man had walked out the door down the hall requesting they didn't shoot. Alastair had already been getting a bad feeling about the place and lowered his weapon.
Before he could ask what had happened the man explained what had happened. "Not that this is the time for introductions but who might you be. And how many people were injured." Alastair spoke up. he had alot of questions but he figured it best to allow for Killian to take charge of the situation and figure out what they would do. Alastair had already made up his mind, on what to do. The good were gone, that ment the job was gone as well. That all lead to one conclusion, time to return to the ship and figure something else out.

Killian was suspicious of the situation something was defiantly wrong with this place. Cadan's call out through the place was the last think Killian would have done himself but he wasn't going to make an issue of it. If fact it worked out well bringing the medic from his hiding spot.
The young medic spoke up quickly giving them a basic rundown of the situation. It seems they were a little late for the good but had come at an opportune moment to avoid putting the crew in danger. "Calm down, I am Captain Bernett yes, and this is the rest of my crew." Killian walked over to where the man and Cadan where now standing. "The Cargo isn't important for now we should deal with taking care of anyone who is hurt. We got to get them back to town where they can receive full medical attention."
Killian looked in the room noticing the security guard that seemed very apprehensive of the other man in the room. If that person was what he thought he was then they needed to act quickly. "If this was done by one of the Cartels then we need to get out of here soon. They'll be back to mop up soon." The Cartels were natorious for sweeping back through a place after they had attacked to kill any rescue workers that came through. They weren't rescue workers of course but the cartels aren't known for asking questions. "Are they all stable enough for transport?"

The place was dead both literally and figuratively. The first 'person' they ran into was face-down on a desk and unresponsive. Friedrich unslung his rifle and flipped off the safety. Something very bad had happened here. Their new pilot broke the silence, loudly announcing their position. Either he hadn't yet realized the possible gravity of the situation or he just had no mind to tactics. Lucky for them it was a friendly face that eventually replied asking not to be shot as he emerged. Friedrich complied with the request but didn't lower his weapon as the man spoke.
Apparently the facility had been raided. Lots of people were dead, most of the rest were wounded, and the cargo was gone. Luckily the captain didn't miss a beat. He already had a plan formulated and seemed to be knowledgeable about the likely attackers.
"Do you haf transport? Vee can get only sree maybe faw out mit uns." The mechanic asked, noting the clear obstacle of moving numerous wounded the hour long journey back to town.
(("Do you have transport? We can get only three maybe four out with us."))

One of the men spoke up, wondering just who Gabriel was and what his purpose may be. "My apologies," the doctor replied, passing a weary hand over his face. "My name is Gabriel Mathers. I'm a doctor. I was supposed to accompany the supplies to Ariel. Some of the medicines have some tricky storage conditions. Or I guess I should say had."
He led the group into the side room with the survivors. "Four wounded, including the one in the corner who was with the attackers. At least twice that dead, with three others who were lucky enough as I was to hide out."
He nodded in agreement with the Captain's assessment that the cargo was unimportant. "We'll be in your debt, Captain." His eyes widened in shock as the Captain identified the attacker as being a part of the Cartel. "Huh choo-shung tza-jiao duh tzang-huo!* They can be moved. I'll need to stay close to him." He indicated the security guard he had first worked on. "He's lost a significant amount of blood. He could go into shock if we try to move him too quickly."
Another of the crew asked if they had transport. Gabriel nodded. "There's a landspeeder out back. With who you can carry and someone piloting it, we might could make it. It'll be a tight fit, but we'll have to make do."
