The Hunt

Lars his office, and though about what he should do with Rider's information. He decided to take the suggestion to talk to the New Canaan Port Authorities. He pulled up the cortex, and sent a wave to the official offices.

Reason for transmission: Requesting a session with port officials, in regards to a ship.[/i]

He waited for an answer, and hoped this lead would not run dry.

Harold, the port authorities worker was busy as usual. They kept close tabs on every ship and person in and out of New Cannan. For an outer rim planet it was closely watched though cargo was the one thing that didn't matter to much, at least for a smal fee of course.

He had been running around getting all the files in order when he noticed the cortex flashing with a new wave coming through. most likely another ship looking to make a landing. He sat down and connected to the wave. Lars' face appered on the other end. A face he hadn't seen before must be someone looking to set up to come in later on down the road. "What? we're busy here so make it quick." Social skills were not his specialty, normally it was Jer's job to deal with people but he had taken some time off leaving Harold there to deal with it all himself. He looked to the man to make his request qwhile he pulled over a paper to register all the information on about this mans coming docking.

"Hello sir," Said Lars, trying to be more polite than the other man. "My name is Engström, and I am looking to get some information from you." He paused, and then continued, deciding politeness was not an issue. "I have information that says a ship, Firefly class, called the Trinity, was in New Canaan not so long ago. I need any information you have about that ship. Passenger Lists, Destination, anything you have." Lars decided that he should take charge of the situation early on, that would save trouble later. "And if you could hurry, that would really make it better for both of us."
He sat back, and waited for the man to speak. Please, he thought, let this be good news. Duke had mentioned something about this taking time, and Lars was not looking forward to a long drawn out job. Maybe it would be over as soon as it began, somehow he doubted it.

Harold was happy with the mans forwardness. He didn't want to spend the next fifteen minutes going though the usualy bull of people meeting and greeting that was normal. "Yes of course we can get that all up for you right away." He repiled to his request about the Trinity. "One minute I'll be right back." He said as he got up and went to the fdesk and file cabinet that was in the background of the view screen.

He began to shuffle through the papers on the desk. Many of them falling to the floor. "now where the hell is that file." After about two minutes of searching he finally cam across what he was looking for. then he turned around and sat back down at the screen. "Found it here. Ok here we go. The Trinity arrived on January 24th. Listed passangers are, James Clark, Sidney Bainbridge, Sakura Kina, Daniella Kingsley, Arthur Doyle, Kalli Bernett, Roger Davis, Tari Gasha, Cadan Ashdown, Meilin Albright, And Layla Disanto." He rattled the names off to him quickly.

"Looks like they were set to depart on the 27th but it seems the ship ran in to some mechanical issues. Personally I would say they had to damn many people on that thing. Not sure if any of them have left though I could check if you need." He was trying to get straight to the point to avoid to much small talk.

"Yes, please do check." Said Lars as he made a note of the date on which they left. "It is imperative that you tell me exactly who was on the ship when they left." He thought for a moment, "Oh, and officer, do you have any way of finding out where they went?" He knew what the standard protocol for leaving a port was, and so there should be some record of the Trinity's destination. Of course, that could have changed for whatever reason, but knowing where they might be headed would certainly be helpful. "One last thing, can you give me anymore information on the medical trouble that delayed the ship? It might prove useful."
Lars was pleased with how things were going so far. If this job continued the way it was going, then he would have no trouble finding the fugitives. Perhaps Duke had been right when he said they wouldn't last long.

Harold stood up at the mans request for more details. "Bah.." Sure he had offered them but he was really hoping he wouldn't need more then that. He turned around again and began to rummage through more papres. It too several mintues this time but he finally turned up what he was looking for.

"Trinity had Engine prblems and crashed, but it does look like Mr. Ashdown and Ms. Disanto left on another ship... the umm.. hold on." He grabbed his glasses and locked over the papers trying to disifer the name of the ship through the coffee stained paper. "yeah thats it, the Jade Princess an Odd Easy-Class Transport ship."

Lars made a note of the ships name. His hope for an easy job had evaporated. "One last thing, is there any record of the destination?" He was hoping to get one piece of useful information to continue his search. "This Jade Princess, what did the captain report as his destination?"
Lars was not surprised to learn that Ashdown and Disanto had changed ships. If they knew that Duke Rider was looking for them, they would probably be trying to throw off anyone who was tracking them. As he thought, he remembered one more thing he was interested in, "Where did the Trinity go? After they made repairs, did they list a destination?"

"Yeah the Jade Princess was off to Greenleaf, beyond that I don't know." Harold was begining to wer thin, there was another wave waiting to come through along with a ship set to make port within the next ten minutes he would need to be ready for all of that. "Trinity ani't left yet she's still planetside right now, but who the hell knows when they will be departing."

Harold turned around one more time. This time though looking for the papers on the ships that was coming his way. He had to give them the final go ahead to make land fall. "Wish I had more time but got to many people after my time." He siad then turned and closed out the wave.

"Thank y..." Lars was cut off by the transmission ending. He was slightly annoyed by the haste of the mans exit, but he understood. Leaning back, he ran through the information he had acquired. Ashdown, and Disanto had been on the ship, but they had left for Greenleaf on the Jade Princess. He sighed, it came as no surprise that he had to follow a proverbial breadcrumb trail, but that didn't make it any less annoying. He began thinking of a way to find out more about the ship and it's location.
