Con. Dinner and Guns

Jordan looked up at the panel she had torn apart earlier. There was so much work to be done she felt overwhelmed. Everything seemed to be going wrong and all at once. Laying there she reached up and began reattaching wires, welding better connections, and cleaning up the dust and grime.

When she heard someone enter the cockpit she glanced out from under the station "Hey Trace." She smiled at him and went back to what she was doing.

[Trace Kennet]

"I don't even get to say knock knock? or Boo?" asked Trace jokingly. "Is there anything I can do to help?" He felt particularly useless today. Overall his day had consisted of a whole 45 minutes of actually flying, and then he had sat around waiting for things to happen. Then he had been harassed by a crazy woman, and then he was back on the bridge, waiting, doing nothing. "I wish I was actually helpful," He said slumping into a sitting positon against the wall. "I feel so Gorram worthless."

[Jordan Maxwell]

"Your not useless, who else is going land the boat?" She wiggled and sat up a little reaching in to the helm, smiling she pulled items she was trying to dislodge. With her left hand she started feeling around on the ground, trying to grab her wrench. "Besides we need someone to watch the Com. out here in the black you never know.." She felt around some more. The wrench just out of reach.

[Trace Kennet]

Seeing what she was reaching for, Trace leaned forward and pushed the wrench into her reach. "Oh yeah," He said, sullenly, "I can watch the comm, because we have had SO many messages." He leaned back against the wall and shook his head. "Besides, you seem like you know a bit about flying yourself, and I know the captain could land the ship if he had to. All I am is a waste of space and air." He stopped talking for a minute, "Hell, the only one i am useful to is Dru. She has an easy mark with me."

[Jordan Maxwell]

"I never fly boats, I only fix 'em." She grabbed the wrench and reached up removing the board, she scooted out and sat up with board in her hands. Pulling out several small tools she began to take several things off the board and replace them.

"I don't think I could land this thing if my life depended on it. It takes a different kind of knowing." She offered him a smile and then frowned at the board. "Go shi.." She muttered and looked around in her kit until she found extra wires, Jordan sighed and started rewiring the board that linked to the outside senors.

[Lars Engström]

"Well aint this a pretty sight," Said Lars as he walked in to the Cockpit. "The mechanic and the pilot making friends. No more knives I see?" He paused for a moment, noticing the state of things. "So, who gets to tell me what happened up here?" He stood, looking expectantly from one to the other.
Well, at least they aren't trying to kill each other again, he thought. "Well, don't everyone leap up to tell me at once. But someone best tell me soon, or I am likely to engage my overactive imagination, and that will take us all to bad places." Noticing Trace's look of sadness, he decided to focus on Jordan. "Well, as you seem to be the one in the most talkative mood, I guess you get to tell me what is going on. Speak up then."

[Jordan Maxwell]

"Stabilizer was bad, had to fix that, I didn't know what was wrong, so checked here first.. And right now I'm boosting sensors.." She shrugged a little and looked back at the board, just a few more things here, and here, and done. She laid back down and put the board in place.

"Nothin to fret over Cap'n everythin' is Shiny."

[Lars Engström]

"Well, that is good to hear. Wouldn't want anything bad to happen." He looked at Trace, "What is your deal? You aren't upset about our good friend Triggerette are you?" The boy looked downright sick. "You should go lay down, you don't look so hot." He turned back to Jordan, "What is this about boosting sensors? You aren't playing electrician are you?"

[Trace Kennet]

Trace didn't bother to argue with the captain, he just stood up and walked out of the cockpit. He felt like this was as good an excuse as any to leave. He remembered at the last minute that Dru was down in the passenger area, and decided to stay in the common area. He lay down on the couch and stared at the ceiling, alone with his thoughts. He could hear the faint hum of voices coming from the cockpit.

[Jordan Maxwell]

"Me? Neva' Cap'n." She smiled at him as she put the last small bolt in place. The wires were easily reattached and the rest was as simple as holding the panel up with her knees and screwing it into place.

"There, at the very least, there will be less fuz."

[Lars Engström]

"Well thank you," Said Lars, smiling. "It's about time someone gave her a tune up." He reached out, and patted Jordan on the shoulder. "You are a great mechanic, you know that?" He offered a hand to her, to help her up. "You know, I am sure that there are a couple of people onboard who wouldn't be unhappy to see you. One of them is currently somewhere in the passenger quarters, thinking about killing me. Maybe you could talk her out of it? I would be ever so grateful."

[Jordan Maxwell]

"I need to clean up the space monkey mess in the engine room first." She took his hand and stood with his help. Her hand reached out and touched his shoulder, leaving a dusty hand print there. From there she picked up a tool kit and walked through the ship to her favorite place.

[Lars Engström]

Lars smiled as she walked passed, he reached up and did his best to brush off the dust. Then he took a seat behind the controls. Running his hands over the panels gently, he smiled wider. This was where life really was meant to be lived. He relaxed into the pilot's seat, and looked out into space. He let out a contented sigh, and closed his eyes. This was going to be a good trip, even with the interesting turn of events.
