[January 3rd, 2523] It was getting a little late. Dru and Lars had a small heart-to-heart earlier that day, if you want to call it that. Now she was settling into her room and the ship. It felt odd being back on board but it would pass. Everything was different now. Drusilla had brought herself up to the dining area, laying her pistols out on the table. Taking them apart to give them a good cleaning. Every piece was placed with care and in order. She was onto cleaning the parts of her second of the two pistols when the other young woman walked in. Dru looked up but didn't say anything, just continued her task. --------------- Outfit - Minus the jacket

Jordan walked slowly into the room holding her left hand. Moving over to the sink she ran it under some cold water cursing herself under her breath. 'Way to burn yourself without a medic on board kiddo.' she thought to herself as she watched the dirt and grime fall from her hands. It reminded her how her hands always did look a little dirty, a price she paid for not wearing gloves while playing with the engine. Though it didn't matter now.
As she turned she dried her hands carefully, that was the first time she noticed Dru. "Oh, hi sorry. Wasn't thinking."

Dru noticed that the girl was holding her left hand, she wondered what had happened but didn't ask. When she heard the cursing as the water ran she assumed she'd hurt herself. As far as Dru knew they didn't have a medic on board, apparently that wasn't her position on the ship. They hadn't had any formal introductions so she didn't know her position on the ship. She only knew the pilot because Lars had mentioned it earlier.
When Jordan said hi to her she looked over in her direction, raising an eyebrow. "Hello, and it's not a problem." Dru went back to her cleaning. She sighed softly after another few moments, try to be conversational Dru. You can do it. "So..I didn't catch your name or anything earlier."

Jordan smiled "Jordan, I'm the Mechanic." She fell silent again and glanced over the assortment of weapons on the table. She didn't know a lot about guns, never had a reason to fire one. After all she was normally stuck on the ship fixing this and that. "And you are?"

"Trouble," Said Lars good naturedly as he walked in to the common area. "That is what she is." He flashed a smile at Dru as he inspected her weapons. "Nice pieces you got there," He said, "Not planning to use them on me are you?" He turned away, without waiting for an answer and noticed Jordan holding her hand. "Well, what happened to you?" he asked, with slight worry in his voice. "I didn't know we'd had any issues. Is this in relation to the ship slowing down earlier?" His eyes narrowed in worry, "Is everything alright? I walked by the cockpit a second ago, and heard Trace mumbling about the controls being taken apart. Jordan have you been making messes?"

"That she is captain," Said Trace as he too entered the common area "She made a real mess...."he stopped, Seeing Dru, and the guns, and he took a step away from the table. "Just out of curiosity, why is it that every time I see her she has her hand on a gun?" He was tempted to go back to his cockpit, and sit this one out until the coast was clear. "I mean, is it really necessary to be capable of killing, no matter where she is?" Instead of running off, however, Trace chose a place as far from Dru as he could manage. "What is for dinner?" he asked, looking at Jordan for the first time, "And what have you done to yourself?"

"Standard welding accident Cap'n everythin will smooth over in a bit." She nodded and added a smile. "Engine room is torn apart, and I'll fix the cockpit after dinner if the pilot don't mind." She raised a brow and looked back at what she had to offer.
"The stabilizer was shot, I swear the last crew was tryin to kill us." She said the last part jokingly, however, she wasn't impressed with the state of things as she found it, she jury rigged the support system, bypassed some minor output issues. While she fixed things on and off all over the place, it was going to be interesting soon.

Dru gave Jordan a forced smile at her introduction, she had mused correctly that the girl wasn't the resident medic. In fact she was the mechanic. As she noticed and heard Lars come into the room she glared at him with his words, looking back to Jordan to tell her properly, "Drusilla Pardieu, most tend to just call me Dru though." She looked down at the pieces of her guns on the table when Lars mentioned them, she'd had them custom done. Same with her daggers. "Not yet Lars, unless you want to earn them being used on you." Dru gave him a slight grin.
The common area was becoming quite the popular place now, Dru began putting one of the pistols back together as the others talked. She smiled when she saw Trace take a step back from the table. "At least they aren't loaded...for the time being." She shrugged. "Folks that want to kill you first don't tend to care where you are. So yes, I prefer to be prepared everywhere." She rolled her eyes as the boy's attentions moved to Jordan. You'd think she was sitting there bleeding all over the place.
If she had cared about everyone on the last crew she would have taken offense to what Jordan said. As it was though the only person she had felt close to was Krey, not to say she didn't get along with the others, they just weren't considered friends. Once Krey had passed the rest of the crew probably didn't give any kind of care about what Lars had to say about things. Just did what needed to be done to get to a place where they could get off.

"Well, Just see that you put everything back the way it was," Lars said to Jordan. "I don't want the ship looking like it is in some scrap heap being stripped for part. And if you want something for your hand, we have a small infirmary near the passenger quarters." Lars smiled as he sat down. "Well, Trace," He chuckled, indicating the weapons on the table "Looks like she has it in for both of us, with us being such a danger to her safety and all." The pilot was looking a little green. "Oh, and Jordan," He said sheepishly, "I am sorry about the state of the ship, when the last mechanic left he didn't feel to kindly about leaving things in good order." Turning his attention back to the ladies, he addressed Dru, "Are you finding everything more or less to your liking?" He didn't know why, but he found himself hoping for her to talk to him. She had been on the ship before, and her opinion was one he hadn't really heard yet. While he waited for a response, he turned to Jordan, "What's for dinner? Oh great chef."

Dru glanced at Lars when he sat down, that glance turned into a full on glare as he spoke. She didn't appreciate being teased or poked fun at. None of them were a danger to her, she'd have them on the ground long before they even got a round off. If any of them carried that is. Otherwise it was a clear victory for her.
Perhaps she would just stay on St. Albans at this rate. Babysitting wasn't her thing anyway. If these kids couldn't take care of themselves she wasn't going to be their ship-mother.
The finishing pieces were put into place on her first pistol. Dru pulled back the chamber, letting it click back into place. Then she slowly placed it back onto the table and began to pay attention to her second pistol. Picking up each piece with care and cleaning them. "I don't require much, just as long as I've got a place to put my head and get some rest." There was a slight annoyance in her voice. First he wanted to poke fun at her with his crew then he expected to start an actual conversation with her? Things don't work that way, captain or not.

"Well," Said Lars, "That's good." He caught her glare, but he ignored it. Being on the move had lifted his spirits, and he wasn't about to let her ruin his mood. The farther they got away from the press of civilization that was Osiris, the more relaxed he was. Not that he had anything to fear from the core or the Alliance, he just liked being away from the big cities. He lapsed into silence, retreating into his mind to think.

Jordan just watched their interaction and moved forward with her dinner plans. She sauteed some tomatoes and some pork, as well as the remainder of her fresh food.
Her eyes kept looking back at the weapons that lay across the table. With such a small crew there was no doubt she was going to have pull additional weight. Suddenly her whole plan flashed through her eyes, no real weapons training, she knew how to make explosives and booby traps. Perhaps she should ask this new woman about guns, after all, knowing how to attach a bomb to a door isn't the same as shooting someone. Jordan shook her head and returned to cooking.
"Dru, which one is your favorite?" She asked quietly.

The smell that drifted around the room while the mechanic cooked was wonderful, Dru didn't have fresh foods very often. This would be a treat. It seemed to lighten her mood a tad as well. She wouldn't finish all of the cleaning before the food was ready. With her second pistol nearing completion of it's routine cleaning, Jordan caught her attention. Dru stared at the girl for a moment, taking in her question. Trying to determine if she was joking, teasing her as the boys had done. A minute or two passed before Dru decided not to care too much and just answer the girl. She held up the first pistol she had put back together while she spoke, "My custom Colt 1911s. Always my first choice." Dru raised a brow at Jordan, and held the gun out for the girl to come get. Her hand held it tightly by the barrel so the mechanic wouldn't need to be shy about taking hold of it. "It's a good weight, not too heavy or light. Mine are modified to hold a 10 clip, rather than the standard 7." It wasn't loaded now of course. ----------- Gun Reference

Jordan hesitated, she didn't want to leave what she was doing, but she was indeed interested in the weapon. She turned down the heat and walked over to the gun taking it from the woman.
Jordan wasn't completely sure how to hold the gun, she knew how it worked, mechanically of course, but there were small facts that every gun owner seemed to know that you couldn't gather just by looking at the weapon, or holding it for short time. The piece itself was pretty, she like the etching, the weight felt nice, though she felt so out of place holding it, she knew it showed. Carefully she placed the gun on the table, smiled and returned to her cooking, not wanting to leave the food to burn.
She so badly wanted to ask to be taught to use such a weapon, however with the boys within ear shot her discomfort started to show through and she returned to her cooking, her question left unasked aloud.
"How many did you bring for our trip?" She asked looking back at Dru as she moved to drain her noodles.

Jordan's hesitation didn't go unnoticed by the mercenary, but weaponry was one of the few topics that could keep Dru's attentions. She watched the girl closely as she took the gun from her. It was obvious to Drusilla that Jordan didn't have much, if any, experience with a gun. She didn't mention it though, a fact like that is best left unspoken. Perhaps Dru would have to rectify that.
Dru smiled in return of Jordan's smile as she placed the colt back onto the table, carefully. 'At least she seems to respect the gun itself, we'll have to see what kind of promise she shows.' She mused to herself. Something to inquire with her later when there were less ears around.
The second pistol that matched the first was being put back together as Jordan began working on the food again. "I always carry everything with me. Since I don't keep a residence anywhere. There's plenty though. I don't really keep count." She shrugged a bit. Dru had more guns than clothing.
As she stood from her chair Dru began to pick up the few other guns that had been sitting on the table as well. The ones that would get cleaned another time. They were moved off to a side-table so that the dining table was clear for dinner. "By the way, the food smells wonderful Jordan." Dru said it with a smile as she sat back down after moving the weaponry.
