Trace visibly relaxed as the guns were moved off the table. He didn't like guns, never had. As a kid, all the other boys he went to school with had loved to play war, loved pretending to shoot each other, but Trace never really got into it. One day, his longing to fit in overcame him and he had tried to play, really tried. They were playing some game about the war, and he had been a rebel. He couldn't enjoy himself. He looked at the captain, as if he expected him to speak, when it became obvious the captain had no such intentions, he voiced his thoughts. "Dru, I am sure you are an expert with all those... things," he began, "But what happens if it goes off on the ship? I don't want to die." He instantly regretted his choice to speak. His words made him sound so much like the naive rich boy that he was, he almost was sick. Any respect they might have for him was surely gone now.

"I don't think that's possible with well maintained weapons, besides," she paused to start making plates of food. "On the last ship I was on, guns were not loaded while in flight."
Finishing up the plates she gave Dru her plate then Lars and finally Trace. Each plate has several different kinds of fresh food and the last four slices of her apple pie she made yesterday.
Jordan picked a seat at random and ended up between Dru and Trace. "Enjoy, it's the last of the fresh stuff, I'll hopefully be able to pick up a some more our next port stop."

"Not likely, if you mean when we get to Saint Albans," Interjected Lars, breaking his long silence. "That place is a giant freezer, and the folks as live there probably get fresh food less often then we do, which is saying a lot." He tasted the food before him, before continuing. "Which is far to frequent, if you ask me, seeing as how Jordan has some talents she didn't tell me about when she was asking for passage." He smiled at her, "Thanks Jordan, it's good to have someone who can make food I actually like eating, on the ship." He took another moment to eat another bite, and then he spoke again. "Speaking of Saint Albans, that reminds me of something I wanted to bring up." He set down his fork, and looked at the others, "We are about to come into more than a little bit of danger, if i know the people who are causing this trouble, and I want you all to know my mind." He paused, choosing his words carefully, "Dru, I don't have any say in what you do or don't do, but I would be extremely obliged if you would be willing to come with me if, and most likely when there is fighting. The rest of you," He continued without waiting for her to answer, "Are to stay on the ship until this trouble is dealt with, understood?" He looked from Trace to Jordan, "I can hardly afford to lose a pilot on a planet like that, or a mechanic, especially one that cooks so well."

Dru raised a brow at the pilot who dared question her abilities and her weaponry. Did she really make him that uncomfortable? It wasn't as though any of her guns were currently loaded. Yet. Dru grinned as Jordan responded before she could. "You would be correct that I am an expert, and that I know how to handle my weaponry. Even if by some chance it did go off on the ship, none of my rounds are the caliber to breach the hull." She rolled her eyes at the kid.
In response to Jordan though, she was almost correct in the way Dru did things, "When I'm on a ship I tend to keep loaded with rubber bullets actually. Doesn't do near the same damage but gives anyone they hit something to seriously ponder on. Also lets me keep up my target practice." Dru grinned looking at Trace with the last part of her comment. "On target sheets of course." For some reason she made the kid nervous and it made her smile inside to see him be so obvious about it.
"Thank you Jordan." Another smile for the mechanic as she gave Dru a plate of food. The mercenary didn't wait to begin eating, it was damn fine food too. Her attentions went to Lars as she kept eating. Nodding a little here and there to acknowledge she was indeed listening, but wasn't going to stop eating for it. "Well like I said earlier, I tend to not pass up a chance to have a bit of fun. I do got to ask though, what's the pay on this going to be?" Dru was a mercenary after all, a hired-gun. She had a tendency to not do things for free.

When Dru asked about money Jordan shrugged. She did not worry about money normally, she used it to buy parts, food for her crew, and on rare occasions her abilities couldn't find her transport, then transport.
"That's somethin Cap'n hasn't brought up yet." She took another bite and watched the others eat. She was a failure at cooking compared to her father. Jordan's voice however, trailed on her last words, her eyes drawn to the number of other guns across the room. Interesting things as they were. "They all have rubber bullets?" She asked more to herself and unaware she was speaking, almost whispering actually aloud. Her mind was wondering to the possibility of actually firing a weapons safely within the ship.

"Dru, you know as well as I do that the people on St. Albans haven't got much in the way of coin to speak of," He began, "But it would seem they all chipped in what little they could spare, and in some cases more than they could spare, to see about paying someone to take care of their problem." He paused, "Now I don't take kindly to stealin' what little they have, but it would be rude to refuse the payment, but that is the end of what we are taking from them. What the pirates took from 'em is theirs as well, and I aim to return it. So anything the pirates have, we are giving back to the miners, otherwise we would be stealin', and i wont have any of that, clear?" He looked at each other person in the room, trying his best to show that he was dead serious. Turning to Dru, he said "Is that good enough?"
He had been watching Jordan carefully, and there was one more thing that he had to say. "Jordan, while we are off the ship, I don't want you messing with any guns near the engine alright?" She had been eyeing them all night, and he was not about to let it go unnoticed.

Drusilla waited for an answer from Lars, but Jordan spoke up again, asking about the rubber bullets. She was more than happy to oblige the girl. "Some, not all of them can use the rubber ones. None of them are loaded with anything at the moment though, tends to go badly during the whole cleaning process if they're loaded." She grinned at Jordan.
Her attentions went back to Lars though when he began to speak. Money was an issue for the mercenary. Bullets cost money. Not to say that Dru had zero money, she did have some, but you can never have enough. At least if you asked her.
She was glad to hear that they were going to be paid at least something. Despite the fact that he called it 'stealing' when they were offering it. However what followed changed Dru's mood for the worse, her eyes narrowed in a glare. If only looks could kill. Did he really think of her as some type of low-down good for nothing thief? As far as she could tell the other two on this boat weren't anywhere near a thief either. Hell they didn't even know how to use a gun.
Lars had some nerve. "Yeah. That's fine, long as there's payment." With her words Dru put down the silverware and took a final drink before she got up. "Thank you Jordan, meal was damn fine." There was an angry feeling in her stride as she went to the side-table that her weapons were sitting on. Dru picked up her prized pair of pistols, shoving them in her waistband and left the room without another word.

Jordan turned and glared at Lars. "Way ta' go Cap'n and things were goin' so well." She stood rolling her eyes and collected her plate as well as Dru's and put them in the sink before walking off to the Cockpit to finish up the repairs that were needed there.

Trace was still quiet, he hadn't spoken since he had let slip that he was afraid of Dru's guns. When she had left, he was relieved, but still didn't speak. Then Jordan had headed off in the direction of the cockpit, and he was left alone with Lars. He felt uncomfortable, alone with the captain, and he finished eating quickly. Rising from the table he quickly cleared his dishes and headed towards the cockpit. Turning to the captain, he finally said what had been eating him since they started talking about guns, and this job. "Thank you, for not making me come with you to fight." He lingered for a moment more, then turned and walked in the direction of the cockpit, to see if Jordan needed help, leaving the captain alone again.

Lars didn't stop eating, he hadn't been trying to be nice, just lay down the plan. If people wanted to get touchy, that was their deal. He then became aware that Trace had risen from the table and was saying something to him, but he didn't really listen. He was tired, and his day wasn't over yet. He took his time eating, and then he took his dishes over and cleaned them. As he turned around, he was struck by how empty it was here. Everyone had left, and although he had seen it empty many times before, he felt like the sudden lack of people was alarming. Shaking off this unknown emotion, he decided it was time to get the full story on what had happened in the cockpit and the engine room. "If she says space monkeys..." He muttered as he strode off to the cockpit.
