[Lars Engström]

Well, thought Lars as he walked into the engine room, she is quite the free spirit, I like her.
Turning he spoke to Jordan, "Well Jordan, here it is. It's not much I know, but it's not bad either, if I do say so myself."
He smiled sheepishly, the engine room was a mess. He had forgotten to clean it, and his last mechanic seemed to have done the same.
"Sorry about the mess, I'll get to work on that right away." He gave a nervous laugh, "I have had a few, lets call them personnel problems, and things have been fairly slow around here." Putting his hands back in his pockets, he couldn't help but feel a mite self conscious. Here he was showing off this dirty mess of an engine room to a pretty girl... Well, no hope for the first impression now. "Feel free to look around, if you have any questions, I'll do my best to answer them, although I am sure by now you know more about this thing than I do."

Kicking some trash out of her way Jordan walked over to the engine and started to look it over. Everything seemed to be in place. Her small hands touched some of the wires softly her eyes making sure they were plugged in properly. She took her time, before pulling out a small plug and replacing it with a new one from her bag. She went on like this completely distracted by what was before her. Then almost like a light switch she remembered he was still standing there.

"I'm sorry, personal problems?" She asked with a coy smile, as she reached into the back of the engine, checking different parts.

Though as she looked at him, she had to admit to herself, he was cute. 'Cute for a captain' she corrected her own thought. She held back the giggle that would have flowed with that thought. After all, all good mechanics knew how it was. Captains love their ships almost as much as their mechanics loved it.

She was good, he had to admit it, and she was good looking too. But he knew how these things went. Any mechanic in an engine room is happy, because they were with the things they knew best. Engines, tools, and grease. Captains were the guest in an engine room. He knew he must be imagining the looks she kept throwing a him, or must he? Shaking his head to clear it he realized she had asked him a question. "Not personal, Personnel. My last crew jumped ship as soon as we got to a decent core world. There were," He paused searching for the right phrase. "Disagreements of policy."
It sounded stupid but it was true enough. He didn't want to scare her away. He leaned up against the wall and watched her work. She knew her stuff, the last mechanic he had was a joke compared to her. She kicked some junk out from under her feet, and he busily started cleaning the floor as best he could.
"Don't think too badly of me," He said, "I just haven't had the time." Or been in the mood either, he added silently to himself. "It normally isn't like this, and I assure you, the rest of the ship is much cleaner."

"No need to worry none. This is one of the clearer boats I've been on." She smiled and moved to the other side of the engine make sure everything looked right. "You will have to define Disagreements sometime." This side seemed better then the last.

Jordan sat on the floor checking various things then looked back up at him. 'I have missed this far to much.'

"Thanks," Lars smiled, "I'm glad you like it. And maybe I'll tell you sometime."
He stood for a few minutes, watching as she worked her magic, then he spoke, "So, Jordan, what do you think? Are you interested?" He paused looking for the right words,"I know you just want a ride off Osiris, and if that's all you want then fine, Ill take you where you want to go and pay you for your troubles. But if I can convince you to stay, then well, I'd be happy to give you a room and fairly steady pay." He paused again, "Take all the time you need to think it over, but if you want the job it is yours."

"I'll keep that in mind, Captain. I'm just hoping to get in the air. I get a little land crazy and being on this planet doesn't help matters." Jordan slowly rose started to wipe her hands on a rag from her tool box before extending it out to him. "I'll stay aboard until you find a replacement, or until we can't stand each other." She smirked at her last comment. She wasn't sure how he felt, but she was falling in love with this ship. Then again, when it came to these smaller ships it didn't take much for her to fall head over heels.

"Well, fair enough," said Lars, "We'll be shipping out soon, I hope to leave tomorrow. I'd love to find a doctor for the ship, but we can get by without one, and I don't know about you but I am fed up with this planet. Got nothin' against the Alliance, but these core planets are too fancy for me." He paused "If you have any questions feel free to ask. But otherwise, I'll leave you to your work." He stopped and smiled, "I'm glad you are willing to help me out of this bind, I owe you one." Still smiling he turned to leave. "Feel free to explore the ship, if you meet my pilot Trace, don't be afraid of him. He is a joker but he means well." Remembering one last thing, he turned, "Oh, and Jordan, welcome aboard."
Lars thought he caught a smile as he left the Engine room and headed to his office.

Jordan opened her mouth and went to protest his leaving to ask a question, but decided against it and went back to work, she would catch him shortly in his office. Perhaps even run into the other crew member, only time could tell.

She watched him leave, a rather enjoyable experience. then set out to clean the engine room and hang her hammock in the corner. Her last job required her to live in the engine room.

Which peeked another point of interest, did he say she would have a room? With that thought, and only a hour passing, she decided to hunt down her Captain.
