Considering the number of people at the table, conversation was fairly light. Most either remained silent due to their personality, like Friedrich, or simply stayed quiet and studied the rest of the crew rather than get to know them with conversation. Their non-cooking cook, Adelle, and the out-of-place doctor were the only ones really making any effort to talk. In a friendly manner. The tiniest hint of a smile tugged at the corner of the mechanic's mouth as the man introduced himself as "Dr. Morely." That alone showed how out of place the man was, using titles and only last names living and working on a ship with about eight people on it... eight people that were all about the same age of most of whom would sooner punch the doctor in the face than show him unearned respect. A brief thought crossed Friedrich's mind to instruct the man to call him "Herr Hoffman" but just like the smile it disappeared.
"Herr Garret." Friedrich called across the table. "If you are up for it, I haf a task for you." The man held up a piece of folded paper. "Einkaufsliste... a uh, shopping list... to keep the schip togesser. Raw material mostly. Maybe ven you are out you have a chance to shoot some Diebe, criminals, und so weite." The two of them didn't get off to the greatest of starts but Garret did not seem like the type to hold a petty grudge. Hopefully he'd be bored and willing to run the errand.
(Herr - Mister Haf - have Einkaufliste - shopping list Schip - ship Togesser - together Ven - when Diebe - thieves Und so weite - and so forth)

The blonde watched everyone, and sat down, looking around. "Hope you all like it." she said as she motioned for everyone to eat. She started to scoop up foods, her movements easy. The steamed vegetables were covered in butter and rosemary, and the meat was a little over done, but still good. She watched. "So, before we get to the small talk, anyone have anything they want to get out into the air? Just so where we all know where we stand?" she asked, knowing that letting thing's hide behind closed doors was a bad thing.
"I'll start. I'm former Alliance. Not now, but I was. Next?"

Fire was glad the captain finally gave them the sign to start eating. He waited for the others to scoop their meals first and took the ladle after them. As he scooped the food on his plate he listened to the captains words. He wasn't really into small talk though, there was absolutely nothing he had to tell these people. His life wasn't interesting and they didn't have to know what has happened to him.
When she mentioned the Alliance he looked up shocked though. She ex-Alliance? He hadn't seen her as one of them. He sniffed and acted like nothing had happened. On the inside he was absolutely not oke, he hated the Alliance. They had ruined his life. As a 16 year old he had fought them, killing his soul for ever and when he came home to apologize to his dad, he was gone. Fire bit the inside of his cheek and looked up reasuring no-one was looking suspciously at him.

When the doctor confirmed his identity, Adelle smiled, that little bit more assured they would be well taken care of in any medical matters. Only a first impression anyway. He looked to be an intelligent man that knew his trade-- she hoped that was the case. Adelle wasn't about to assume less of him, however. She had been raised in the Core, after all, and despite her living away on Athens, still held some of that accent.
"Nice to meet you-- and yeah. I am." She would've gone further, but was distracted briefly by both the exchange the mechanic had started with Mr Garret, and the Captain's own interjection to get the meal-- and the proper introductions-- underway. Jadyn's affiliations-- or anyone's affiliations for that matter-- would not now or ever bother Adelle. She wasn't in the war, and she wasn't really a supporter of Unification. As would be a constant for now, though, Hoffman's accent would be a reminder of her father.
Seeing as there fell a silence over the table, Adelle herself chose to speak up. Why not, right? There was still something remotely uneasy she found in the shuttle renter's presence.
"I'll be the ship's new cook and a general crewman-- after this meal, of course. I'm from Sihnon originally. Lived on Athens a while."
Once again, she let it drift off into silence, and returned to her meal-- which was quite delicious.

Suddenly Fire snapped. He had tried very hard to keep himself down, but his other side had taken over, as Jadyn spoke his triggerwords. He quickly rose and pulled his gun, cocked it and pointed it at Jadyn. “You dirty Lien Mohn. No-one will Swa me. You thought you could Fuhn Pi to me? Try again Sher Tuh”, he shouted mad as he held his gun very steady. He would definitely shoot her, his life was built around a bullet taking lives, he hated it, and now he was blaming her for it. Blaming her for all the lives he had taken, all the lives he had seen being taken and of course the death of his father.
(Lien Mohn = Alliance | Swa = manipulate/fooling someone | Fuhn Pi = lying | Sher Tun = leader of criminal organisation/ snake head)

Jadyn hadn't expected the man to react so volently, but she'd been watching him long enough to know it was coming. She raised a hand to stop anyone else from standing, and stood carefully.
"I am not alliance. I was. I don't know who you are, or what you've done. I'm just a captain of a Firefly, trying to make a living. If you can't handle that, or the fact that I was once alliance, but am no more, then you can get the hell of my ship." her voice was calm, but cold. There was nothing to be given away. "The Alliance killed my parents. That alone should make you see that I don't hate you." her dark eyes locked on the man before her. She watched him.
"And I don't turn people in. I am not a snitch."

Moving a small bit of food around his plate and not really eating nor tasting Thomas watched the group as they looked and chatted each other up. Just as he settled back into his chair the mech spoke to him and handed him a shopping list. The list was very simple all the componets was known by him and easily found at the scrap yard. Thankfully the yards here were free and easy to access. - Nodding to the german....'It's good as done. It'll also give me some change in my pocket as well.' - Yet just as all was going well did the captian try to clear the air of future problems, but instead set a wildfire going. As he looked across the table he noted fire's emotion come to a boil. Slowly and quietly he put his hand upon his pistol that was hidden on his right leg. Pointing his leg towards fire under the table he cocked his gun. It never made a sound as as a bullet round was chambered. Garret was not above putting the man down, if he moved to kill the captian. A stone cold gaze filled his eyes and life and death was again before Thomas.

Luckily Garret was agreeable and he seemed to be knowledgeable enough to get everything. The only potential problem left was that the man might cut corners in the process. Friedrich had no issue with finding a deal or even salvaging as much as possible but only so long as it didn’t compromise the quality of the materials. ”Make sure you get ze best or it might cost our lives.” he added hoping that Garret would get his meaning. Inferior metals could lead to any number of issues from engine failure to explosive decompression.
With mostly everyone arrived and settled, Jadyn did her best to get thing started with introductions and such. She ended up doing a poor job because the only thing she ended up sharing was her past affiliation, controversial enough even if you were a Browncoat. News like that was bound to ruffle a few feathers and once the cook, Adelle, had said her bit Fire went off on a delayed reaction to the captain’s words. He drew his weapon and spouted a combination of insults and accusations.
Unfortunately Friedrich was not currently armed but it didn’t stop him from immediately jumping to his feet in response. ”Keine Bewegung!” he shouted right back, as much an order to the aggressive Fire as well as a reinforcement of Jadyn’s silent instruction for the rest of the crew to stand down rather than start shooting. He was actually in violation of that order himself, having only noticed the hand signal once moving into action. Unfortunately the mechanics words were lost, not translated in the heat of the moment.
He stood firm as the situation remained tense. Jadyn added some explanation to explain her current allegiance in an attempt to tone Fire back to a less homicidal state. Her words were blunt and reasonable… probably should have started off with those few extra sentences and maybe avoided this whole mess.
(Keine Bewegung – Don’t move)

"You were Alliance and that is more than enough", he said mad. "You killed my friends and my dad. YOU distroyed my life", he shouted. Fire exhaled through his nose and waited for her to explain more. He didn't care her family was killed by the Alliance as well, she'd made the wrong decision to join them in the first place. If she wasn't going to give him a good reason, he would shoot her in the head right there. He had checked everyone when walking in and the only ones carrying a gun besides him, were Garrett and the captain herself, so he knew he would be able to escape from it unharmed. When the mechanic tried to solve the problem himself Fire had looked up, but he had already seen the mechanic knew himself he should better sit down and watch.
He had also noticed Garrett was pointing his gun at him, under the table, aimed on his knees. The gun hadn't made a sound, but Garretts eyes had said enough. 'Smart move', Fire thought, but he wouldn't let that happen. He suddenly turned around and now pointed his gun at Garrett. "Drop it!", he said with in a cold voice. He still kept looking at the captain, watching if she would pull her gun as well.

Morley listened as the woman next to him replied, but the captain began to speak before he could start forming a reply of his own, so he just gave her a small smile and focused his attention on the captain instead.
When she announced that she was ex-Alliance, he was not too surprised. Not because he had any inkling as to her allegiances, but because the Alliance spanned countless worlds and its influence could be felt pretty much everywhere you want in the 'Verse. Most people had some connection to it, in some fashion or another. Why, he himself was attached to them. His parents where officials, one a doctor and the other a high ranking military officer.
Then again, his wife had been a Browncoat. And by the end of the war, he had lost all of them, his family to their stubbornness and his wife to the battlefield.
It was at this point that the thug who had previously been giving him the evil eye stood and dramatically shouted at the captain, pointing a weapon at her. The doctor's brow furrowed deeply and he grabbed for his cane. By the time he had been able to pull himself to his feet, the man had shouted a second time, switching his aim from the captain to the other man he had seen touting weapons the day the doctor had signed on with the Raven.
"For goodness sake, man! Put that thing away, before you do something immeasurably stupid!" Morley snapped sternly at the maniac.

The distraction was all she needed, she pulled her own gun, and held it up to his head. "I didn't kill your father, or your friends. I was a gorram officer, and not a good one at that." she snarled the last part glaring at him. "Now drop the gun before I shot you, and believe me I will." she cocked the gun. She took a step towards him, and pushed out her mind, touching his, trying to calm him. "Alliance I was. I am not now, and I didn't kill your friends and father. I will not say I was a dandy flowered girl who just was following orders. I knew What i was doing, but that doesn't change the fact that the Alliance took my own family from me, and I refuse to be thought of as Alliance." her voice was cold, her eye's steady. The deep brown didn't show the fear.
"Now if you all would stop trying to jump to protect me, I'll be greatful. Garrett, put the gun away. Owlson, don't even try to shoot me. I have a feeling most of the people around this table wouldn't like that. If you wish, when we land on Ariel, you can get off the ship. I won't hold you here." she took a careful step forward, making it seem as if she was still standing there, at least hoping to. Desperately. If he saw through it she was probably going to be very very dead. "So don't do anything stupid alright? If anything I'm a friend, not an enemy to shoot at."

Suddenly the doctor spoke to him, telling him he was being stupid. This was exactly what Fire had been expecting from the man. He grinned and turned around. "You mean like this?", Fire asked pointing the gun at Morley. "Shut up, before you get yourself hurt". While talking to the doctor he completely forgot the captain. As he turned around to focus on her again, it was already too late. The roles were now turned and Jadyn had her gun against Fire's head. Fire bit his lip and thought the situation over. He could take her easily, but the question was, could he take her before she shot him. He now faced her and looked into her deep dark eyes. When he just wanted take action, she suddenly came towards him. Fire startled and immediatly rose his gun again, putting it against her temple. "Stop... there", he hissed. But she wasn't going to hurt him at that moment. She just spoke to him. Assuring him that she didn't like what she had done. Fire looked into her eyes, and now saw the glinster. The glinster that told him she was serious, that she would shoot him, if she had to. Fire bit his lip and lowered his gun a bit.
Jadyn spoke to the rest of the crew, and Fire saw his chance, but he didn't do anything. He just stood there pointing his gun at her. As he processed her words he knew she was right. He looked over the crew to construct a plan where he didn't end up caught or dead, but failed. Either he shot the captain first, resulting in a bullet in his own knee from Garretts gun, making it impossible for him to get away in time from the other crew. Or he would shoot Garrett first, after which he wouldn't be in time to dodge the captains bullet or shoot her first. He thought about it a little more as he kept pointing his gun at the captain. The only result was death or capture with serious injuries, and he didn't think the doctor would still be prepared to help him. He stared into Jadyns eyes again and turned his gun around, giving her a chance to grab it. He sighed. "Alright, I give up".

Jadyn watched him, internally whincing at the gun swinging to the doctor. "Morley, stay out of it." Sharp words, and sharper tone belied her calm stance. There was fear in that voice, but it was already controlled. She kept her gun up and didn't waver. Well this was a nice pickle.
Then the man seemed to relax, marginally. She saw the gun flipped and held out, and his voice told her that he was giving up. She nodded, but lowered her own gun, and slipped it back into her holster, and her other hand waving the gun away. "Just don't try to shoot me again. Don't judge a book by it's cover you know." she said sitting down, and continuing to eat, as if nothing had happened. What was really going on in her head was mindless screaming. That had startled her more than it should have.

Throughout the entire exchange? Adelle hadn't moved an inch. Everyone had considered an up-in-arms approach it seemed, except for only a select few. Her and the Preacher, mostly. This was an incident better solved by the two people it was between. If everyone jumped on top of it, Fire's hand might've already been pushed to shoot anyway. Even if he would have died in the process. Sometimes... apparently, death was worth revenge. On both sides. But Adelle herself had never encountered a case. Guns at the dinner table, though? That had never sat well with her. Only the insecure and paranoid brought weapons to a meal. Or someone planning to confirm those assumptions of mistrust. Or if it was a meal between the most dishonest of people. Pirates sprung to mind. Criminal leaders, too. Maybe the day of hire and all the small tell-tale signs of people not quite hitting it off from the start probably spelled out the trouble that was now.
But this was between Owlson and the Captain. No one seemed to lack in their support for her side amongst the rest of the crew, and really Fire hadn't done many favours for himself to accuse her solely of something she didn't personally do. At least, Adelle hoped. All he had said was the 'Alliance' had done whatever ill had befallen him and his family.
It would be stupid and bravado-laden to say she wasn't afraid, that there wasn't some fear for the lives of those involved. But she was calm. She guarded herself well, and she kept out of the way. Remained in her seat and just watched, and waited. Could she even be fast enough herself to swiftly position and knock the gun from his hand? Nope. Good unarmed skills aside, she wouldn't be able to deal with firearms.
And then it blew over like footsteps disappearing in a sandstorm. Jadyn didn't take the gun away, and sat back down. Adelle proposed to join her in returning to the meal. Slow, small bites were taken as a possible silence settled over those present.
"So... what's in this seasoning? Rosemary?" Her voice was quiet. Some small attempt to try and move passed this mess.

Fire put his gun confused back in its holster. Why did she just leave him with it? He could just shoot her now if he wanted. He didn't know what to do, and stood frozen for a while. Then he slowly walked back to his seat without saying anything. He took his plate and began eating, not looking up. He hated himself for reacting so agitated towards the captain. Now he would definitely have the whole crew on his back, getting the attention he had tried to avoid. Maybe it was indeed better if he got of at Ariel. He didn't even know why he had thought being part of a crew had been a good plan in the first place.
