Ok guys so I have been gone for a long time and got alot to catch up on but I figured I would start with a little of what I have been doing and I also wanted to ask some people a question. I have already talked to some people I know who play/played on here about it.
I am writing a book and I want to sue some character names and likenesses for it. anyone who doesnt want theirs used I will gladly change out the name and adjust the personality as well so I am not taking anyones idea.
I have a hughe (346 pages) back history of the world I am making for it. The story takes place in the future of course 2397. I'll break it down quick. The human race has begun to expand its tech over the years. The world suffers WW III which leads to there being several super blocks of power on earth.
Eventually man begins to spread to different planets in the sol system making colonies there. eventually they begin to be able to terraform planets and spread throughout the whole system.
Some point along the time they reach the ability to send ships through jump gates to other stars in a matter of weeks time instead of years. This allows the human race to now occupy over 20 systems with over 100 colonies on planets moons astroids. Anyway there is still a few different "Nations" that each control their share of planets.
Eventually there is a war between the two major factions with the smaller once taking one side or another. As the war rages on the lines between the smaller groups and the major one th=ey side with begin to fade and one side has begun to win over the other.
The main story will revolve around a ship and its crew and their effort to keep a small set of systems that are not in the war and independet from the others free of being userped by the larger factions.
So again i have sued a few names and am working my way through the story I have 36 pages written fully and I have about 20 more tha tI am working up right now. I have taken a very small clip from some of the much more rough pages to share. Again this is very rough and I know it will need alot of work but I wanted to sare a bit of why I have been gone so here it is as follows:
The latest modifications are in a different color so it can be easily seen.
C.S.S Silvana
Sidney walked out the doorway from the bridge of the ship the door quietly slide shut behind him. There was little left he could do there at this point. The recently arrived ship had fully deployed a warp scrambler, they would be forced to face the boarding attempt of the unknown ship. As he made his way the stairs to the cargo hold he found himself face to face with the youngest member of his crew.
“Kalli gather the others,” Sidney Said. “Get them armed and read in the cargo hold in five minute.” Kalli was the ships mechanic a young plucky girl who had been flying with Sidney since before before he had bought his own ship. She was hardly the type you would expect to be a mechanic, a slender little woman, the type one would expect to be back in the high class cities of Sol.
“But Sidney if I can manage to adjust-”
“We don't have time for that right now.”Sidney said cutting her off before she could complete what she was saying. “They will be at our door in five minutes and we have to be ready.”
Kalli opened her mouth, then closed it. “Understood sir.” She said as she wiped a strand of her long auburn hair from in front of her face leaving a strike of grease across her face. There was hardly a time that the young mechanic wasn't covered in grease. It was obvious that she thought they had other options other then fighting but Sidney's mind would not be changed.
Sidney didn't waste anymore time standing there and made his way down the stair. The limp from his left knee showing with every step as he climbed down the steep stairs. As he reached the bottom he hand rested on his bulky chrome long nose .454 Gauss revolver. The weapon had seen its years of actions at his side and it show, as well as the great care he had given it to make it last far beyond its prime. His eyes fixed on the door as he waited to hear the grind of metal on metal from the other ship connecting with theirs.
'Getting us in more trouble as always I see.”Roger called from across the cargo hold. “So what have you done this time.”
“Most likely bounty hunters, its not a registered government ship. Who knows what the bounty is for.” Sidney replied.
Sidney's eyes didn't even ship from the door. Roger Was Sidney's trusted first mate on the Silvana and had been with him since the beginning of it all. The past four years together had given the pair quiet the level of trust with each other. Roger was a rugged fellow the type you would not want to cross paths with on a late night stroll.
Roger smirked then spoke up again, always having to get the last word in. “I don't mind you keep causing trouble and I will keep getting you out of it.”
Outside the larger ship was now withing boarding distance of the Silvana, The docking tunnel was beginning to extend and once it had made a good connection they would be just on the other side of the Silvana's door. It would take them some time to crack the controls and force it open and by then the crew would be in place and ready to face the boarding party whoever they were.
The Silvana had been boarded before but no one has ever been able to make it past the cargo hold this time would be no different. After The boarding party was dealt with they would take advantage of the supplies left on the ship and mark its location so they could have a team sent out to pick it up. They needed every bit of supplies they could get to build their forces for the coming battles in the future.
“Sir doesn't it seem a little odd out here for the authorities to be sending someone out for us?” Asked Tristam, Another hired hand on the crew. Tristram was another one of the younger members of the crew. A strong back and a steady gun hand made him one of Sidney's most useful crew though Sidney had yet to fully trust him. He was the most recent addition to the crew having joined them only about six months back when they were on Lindblume.
“Never put anything past the Union. If they decide they want us silenced there is no place they won't follow you to.” Sidney replied. Sidney was classified as a terrorist by the Union and the Common wealth, that seemed to be about the only thing the two sides could agree on. He had become a legend with the people of the Free Planets. The Colonial Alliance of Free Planets was among the smallest of all the planets and none of them had a formal navy presence. Norillia the largest of them was the only one with a enlisted military even. Sidney himself had served in the Norllian Army when he was younger, long before the war had started, long before there was a need for a military force.
The sounds of the docking tunnel connecting with the ship echoed through the ridged haul of the ship. Kalli came back just in time with the remainder of the crew, three others in total. The Ships pilot Jamie, the Medic and professional gun-hand Sakura and last the Silvana's Meilin. Sakura had served with Sidney in the Norillian Army under his command.
“That's the last of them Sidney.” Kalli shouted down from atop the stairs, weapon in hand and at the ready. Sidney looked over his shoulder at the others only giving a nod, he had always been a man of few words when words weren't necessary. The rest of the crew remained silent as well, wait for their time to act.
The door between the ships slowly began to open lowering down in to the tunnel where the boarding party waited. The Silvana's crew found themselves spread throughout the cargo hold taking cover behind the creates through out. As the door leveled with the ground making a clear path the boarding party rushed forward and in to the cargo hold where the trap waited. The sound of boots slamming across the steel floor filled the room.
The boom of gun fire from a high caliber rifle rang out from the catwalk as Sakura took a single clean shot to the head of the first boarding party member. A hail of gunfire followed from the remaining invaders in an attempt to suppress any further attempts by Sakura and the others from continuing their attempts to stop the boarding party.
While the attention was on the catwalk Roger and Tristram to advantage of the now apparent blind spot in their defenses to take aim and bear down on them with a new wave of round scattering the group as two more fell to the cold steel floor. Their attempt to find cover was quickly found to be futile as the crew flanked around them, cutting them off and cutting down another of the intruders as he searched for cover.
With no chance of overtaking the crew the remaining two bounty hunters dropped their weapons seeking a last chance at survival. “Hold your fire,” One of them yelled. “We've dropped our weapons hold your fire.”
A few more rounds busts out of the crews weapons before the silence enveloped the room once more. Sidney, with his gun still raised and pointed began to approach them.
“Please were unarmed, We'll leave and everyone can part ways.” one of them pleaded.
Sidney continued to close the gap between them, not speaking a word to either of them. When Sidney stopped just outside arms reach of the pair Kalli turned with no intentions of watching what was to come next. Once more the silence was broken with a final two gunshots, the battle had ended, the Silvana and her crew would walk away victorious at the end of the day. “Roger,” Sidney said. “Take Sakura with you and make sure that was all of them and get that warp scrambler shut down. Tristram get this mess cleaned up. Jamie, Kalli I need this ship ready to move out in fifteen minutes.” “Once they have the warp scrambler down we will be ready to jump Sir.” Jamie replied as him and Kalli started back down the hallway out of the cargo hold. Jamie and Kalli were nearly inseparable when Sidney gave them more then a moment of down time. The two had a lot in common having come from inner Commonwealth planets as kids. Neither one of them had much experience in the outer systems and how hard life could be out there, yet somehow they both ended up all the way to the far reaches of mans grasp on galaxy.
“You both have Fifteen minutes then I want us in route to Natarai.' Sidney said. “We have cargo to off load there and if I am not mistaking we only got enough Trillium fuel left to make it there.”
Kalli smiled at Sidney's comment. “Have we ever failed to get you home Sidney? You got nothing to worry about.”
“Wait how is it I get stuck with the crap job.” Tristrsam interrupted.
“Just get to it Tris.” Sidney said without hesitation and then he turned and walked toward the stairs again heading for his berthing. It had been a long hard day and he was ready to get himself cleaned up afterward. If they were quick enough getting out of here they would make it to the Jump Gate before the Union would be able to get it's forces in place to stop them. After that they would have no trouble. The trip would take another week but the Union had yet to made any major incursions beyond the gate in to the Free Planets territory. Though the Union could easily take over the free planets they needed the surplus of food from the colonies out there to keep their military running.
Union News Network
Newscast: Today the newly established United Forces Security Office on Lindblume in the Sabion System was attacked. Twenty-six people were killed and nine injured in the attack believed to be carried out by a terrorist cell believed to linked with the Federal Commonwealth of Planets. The Union Prime Minister head an emergency press conference shortly after the incident assuring that the United Forces would immediately begin boarder inspections between the Free planets and the Union along with made join efforts with the government of the Free Planet to root out the terrorist cell. The Minister of Intelligence stated he believes the terrorist group, to be run by a Natarain man by the name of Sidney Bainbridge is conducting its operations from his ship the . The minister hopes to head the ship off at the Norillia System Jump Gate.
Norillian Army Jump Gate Station
The Norillian Army Command office was a buzz with the news that had come across the Union News network. The command staff was trying to keep things to a dull roar about it. The last thing they needed was the Union to perceive the people of the Colonial Alliance seeing the attack as a good thing. Luckily for them the UNN broadcast didn't go further then the Jump gate. Word had also come through that the would be passing through the gate and the Union would no doubt want them to stop the ship right then and there. The station commander, Major James Clark, of course had no intentions of stopping the ship.
Major Clark walked in to the main control center of the station where the staff was reviewing the broad cast. He had already contacted the Council about the news and was awaiting the instructions for when the arrived. “Ensign, turn that crap off.” James belted. “I expect everything to be business as usual we are expecting a convoy of Union freighters through withing an hour and I expect operations to be as normal.”
“Understood Sir.” The Ensign said as he turned the news off the view screen. “The Lindblume monarchy send a message requesting we connect them through with the Council sir.”
Jamie's face light up with surprise. Linblume had avoided contact with the council ever since the Union had come in to their territory. There had been a lot of tension at the Jump Gate between the two areas. Before the war things were different. The council had been negotiation with Lindblume to have the join the Colonial Alliance, a long process, and it was shattered the day the Union had decided they needed control of Lindblume to control access to the Colonial Alliance food supplies.
“Did they give any word of what this unexpected surprise was about?” James asked.
“No, sir they just said it was urgent.”
James paused a moment before replying taking a moment to think of all the possibilities it could be. “Get them patched through to the council immediately. I am sure the council will be getting back to us about it shortly.” James had a feeling it would be about this mornings attack and how they expect it to be handled. If they were expecting him to turn over the Silvana when they arrived through the gate they will find themselves disappointed in the end. “I expect you to inform me the second the Council contacts us after their talk with the royals.” James had never been a fan of the monarchy, the whole concept was ancient and archaic, a waste of modern resources.
“Understood Sir.” The ensign replied as James made his way back out of the main control center and back to his daily routines.
Port Royal U.F.S. Office, Kalos System
“Commander Owens, there is a class one priority transmission coming in from central command sir.”
“What? Central command? What do they want?” Owens attention was anywhere but on the job, Kalos was a trade hub and about as far from the war front as Union territory got. Owens had requested the post to make commander and has been trying for several years now to get placed in command of his own ship on the front lines. Owens has yet to hear the news of the attack in the neighboring Sabion System.
“Sir the transmission is classified and requires your authentication to access it.”
