[March 14th - Deep Down Pub]
Sian held the envelopes in her hand, staring at them as she waited. She was really going to do this. It was the third time that she was meeting the man, she didn't have the nerve to go through with it the first two times. Sent him away before she could let them go. There were several of them, all addressed to various people around the 'verse. Jack, Rainea, Macy...just to name a few. Her father however wasn't among the names. It wasn't as though they talked often anyway, even when they did the dislike was so thick someone could choke on it.
She'd taken the time to hand-write them all. Each one specifically written for the person who's name was carefully scripted on the envelope. Jack's was the hardest to write. Sian had started over and over so many times she couldn't even begin to guess how much paper had been wasted. There was so much to say and yet it felt too cruel to do so at this point. She wanted to tell him everything, but how could she do that and then go on to tell him how she could never see him again. No, it wasn't right.
Lars entered the Deep Down for a third time, approaching Sian quietly. He gave her a nod and took a seat across from her, not saying anything, he'd let her make the first move.
Sian looked up at the man who sat in front of her, a sadness in her eyes as her grip tightened on the stack of envelopes. After a few minutes she sighed, giving in. The envelopes left her hands as she placed them onto the table and pushed them forward. She placed her hands in her lap to keep herself from taking them back. It needed to be done.
"You understand the job I've hired you for Lars?" The man nodded,"Yes mam. Your instructions are very clear, and I'm being paid well enough that I don't need any extra details." Sian smiled lightly at the man's confirmation. "Good. Your pay will be transferred to the account you specified as soon as I return home." Lars nodded and got to his feet, knowing that he would need to leave now. Else his employer might change her mind again. "Pleasure doing business with you mam."
Sian watched as the man walked toward the exit. He had no idea who she was, she never gave her name and he never asked. A professional. Tatiana had given her his contact information for this very reason. A tear streaked down her cheek as the door shut behind him.
