The city of Santa Ana is sprawled out over super condensed streets of bustling buyers. Originally it was only a depot town, with a few flea markets where folk would come and sell their wares. Obadius Youngblood changed all that when he opened the first convention center in 2491, inviting entrepreneurs, inventors and salesmen alike to showcase their goods on a broader stage. At the time, it was only a large building, but the investment was solid, and the buyers came from far and wide.
The spotlight for Youngblood, was short lived. Other investment groups saw the marketing potential and began to open up more modern and flashier convention centers. Obadius had built a warehouse in essence, and sectioned off the floor in fifty by fifty foot sections. Each section rented to a salesman or company to showcase their product netted a healthy profit. The space became so much of a premium, that other investment groups took notice and six more convention centers were built within five years of the first. Now, thirty years since Youngblood started, more than fifty convention centers have opened and operate year round. They span more than three miles from the first simple warehouse.
The locals have dubbed the epicenter, "The Miracle Mile" and it is well known that if you don't bring your product to the miracle mile, you might as well shut your doors, be it a small business, or a multiplanet corporation. If your looking for the latest and greatest Persephone has to offer, you need look no further. Within these centers, one can purchase clothes, housewares, entertainment, property, cuisine, luxury items, communication equipment, exotic art, expensive pets, even companions, personal defense weapons, and if your pockets are deep enough, fully functioning starships.
If you want it, it is at the miracle mile.
What the locals won't tell you about is the undercity. Crime also found its way in, and contraband can be found in every nook and cranny on Santa Ana, making jobs and profit for the less legal of the planet just another part of the vast economy.
