"Don't know what you think you're doing." Jackson commented to the man sitting across from him. The security officer didn't even look up from his own work as he said it in a mildly disinterested yet corrective tone. The two were sitting in the Larissa's armory going through the inventory cleaning any piece that was not flawlessly maintained. It wasn't necessary but they were there regardless, Jackson because he enjoyed and the other because Jackson decided the kid needed it.
Kid... Jackson was only 25 but compared to the fresh recruit, claiming to be 19 but probably less than that, he was the old man. Jackson was even the ranking security officer on board, a hell of a thing. Sure, the mercenary had experience, knowledge, and skill but his age should have kept him back. He was lucky to find work with another company so fast. The fact that he'd been hired on as an officer of said company was just an added blessing.
"Parker, there's more to a rifle than the bore and barrel so don't even think about putting that back in the rack and saying it's done." He gave a quick glance to the man when correcting him this time but quickly returned to his own work. Parker needed to at least work the breech or he'd miss all the moving parts, really just making the weapon appear to be clean. It didn't matter now since they were merely re-cleaning them but "good enough" was not the point of the exercise. Jackson didn't give him the answer though. That would be too easy and it wouldn't sink in as well if he just handed the answer over. It took a second but he was soon at work moving in through the magazine port and then the ejection port. It would have been better to just partially disassemble the weapon but that method would work for now.
The two returned to relative silence as they worked. Jackson finished with his current rifle, replaced it in the rack and then took the next. Who knew when the next job would come but until then they'd keep busy and the arsenal would certainly be prepared. Maybe later in the day they'd dirty them up with some range time.
