[Kara Monroe]

February 8, 2523

Kara finally made her way back into the cargo bay area. It was another long day, another disappointing one at that. She had tree pilots come in for interviews and turned them all away, and now she was waiting for a fourth. She wasn’t sure why the other ones didn’t fit, perhaps it was the face full of piercings, the lack of hygiene, or maybe it was simply her lack of wanting to trust her baby to someone that didn’t even know to turn anything on.

However the repairs on her sip were going much better than she had expected. She finally had a mechanic that was worth his weight in gold, a medic that was, family. She managed to snag a few passengers, some gun hands, rent some shuttles. Things had been looking up, until she realized she needed someone to fly her baby. After all, she knew how to shoot things, she might be able to pull off a landing and take off, however, Kara really didn’t want to risk it.

The captain’s hand found it’s way though her hair as she waited, silently for her next pilot to arrive, her eyes over looking the native people on this planet. Kara herself could find this place as a home, if she wasn’t on the run, that is.

Henry had been dropped off from his last job and he didn't fight when another hot shot came in and pulled off a few tricks stilling his job as a pilot, it was nothing new he could do it two, but he really didn't like the way the crew treated him, in fact he was going to quit any way.

At any rate he moved around for a while looking for a job of a pilot when he heard news of a crew that was looking, as he walked up passing one who had been told no a younger fella' only around is very late teens.

Henry walked up to the woman, he un-buttoned his trench coat and removed his hat, then set his suit case down, keeping it in range in case he needed the guns, and asked,

"You the one looking for the pilot?"

“I am not looking for just any pilot…” After she spoke Kara turned to look at the man next to her, she offered him a little smile, after all she was getting better at this whole, people skills thing. Though in her own hap hazard way, she greeted the pilot with a nod and offered him her hand. “I don’t need a pilot that thinks he can fly, I need one that actually knows how.” Her eyes moved up and down the man. He was older than her other applicants, but there was something about him. A swagger that she always liked in a pilot.

“Do you want to test out my shuttle or do you want to barter first?” The Rayya was being outfitted with the last of what she needed. Kara would have preferred to have him take the ship up, but since she ran everyone else on a shuttle run why not him to. After all, as she learned with at least one other pilot, it seemed being able to run a shuttle was a rare skill.

He took her hand and shook it after being offered, then he gave a smile in return, "Henry Parker, Shuttle ehh?" He removed his hat and brushed the hair that stood on end with his fingers. "I think i could do that, OK lets have a look." He picked up his bag again satisfied at the chance at work, a real pilot hu? He thought that sounded good no tricks yet,

"How exactly do you want me to be flying?"
He asked the woman, If he was needed to out maneuver, then his old military Training would come in handy, if it was slow and steady he would be able to do it with his eyes closed.

“I can fly this baby in a straight line if that’s all that was needed, but there are far bigger and worse things out there than just making it from end to end.” She started walking with him toward their third shuttle. “However, I need a pilot that can do more than standard maneuvering. With the amount reavers, and pirates in space,” let along the alliance. She knew she needed someone that could get them out of dodge, if it was what was needed. Kara didn’t speak further until they reached the shuttle. She walked inside and leaned on the door frame looking out at him.

“In short Parker, I am asking you to show me what you’ve got.” She gave him a challenging smirk as she moved to the side to allow him to enter and take the pilot’s seat.

He dropped his bag almost to happy when he entered into the bridge, he removed his hat again and sat it down, he got a feel for the controls real quick taking only a second to find every thing, then spun the chair around to see the smirk on the face of the woman. He returned the smirk and said "without and obstacle coarse? I'll see what i can do."

He powered the shuttle up and ran checks at the same time, when he started off it handled a little bit more choppy then he would have liked but he quickly made up for it with is own flying.
He started off with a few speed checks testing the shuttle as he went, before long though he was doing maneuvers and and few stunts, nothing he would regret or call showing off, and that could be told in his own face and calm steady hands, reason for not showing himself to high was because he wanted to keep a few of the better tricks for the real action should it come.

After pulling all his normal skills he began to pull the shuttle for landing again, bringing the shuttle back to a nice stop, Shutting things down as he spoke he began, "Did i get the job?"

Kara was impressed to say the least. After all the last few pilots she allowed in her shuttle. Well she didn’t need to think about it. However, she did reach out and offered her hand to the pilot, her pilot. “Welcome home Parker, Now let me show you to your room.” If she had known the pilot better, well, she might have said something else to him. However, her natural distrust for people was still present. He was a heck of a pilot, one she wanted on her ship, but it was never best to look eager.

She lead him from the shuttle to the dorm closest to the bridge, once again, she was position people based on how close they would be to their stations. If something were to go wrong, she needed him to be there within moments, running from the other side of the ship, well, that seemed almost like tempting death. “This will be yours if you are willing. Kyla and Skye, between the two of them, we have three sit down meals a day, you are welcome to join if you so choose. I offer payments after each mission, and of course today if you take the job.” However, like always, she would give them their choice. After all, keeping her crew happy with their rooms, was at least slightly important to her.

Henry gave a smile and grabbed his hat again then suit case then fallowed she brought him to a room close enough to the bridge, he peeked in and took a look setting his bag by the door and tossing his hat into the room.

"Alright then, Job accepted," he said with a smirk as if there was any question he would be taking the job, once she mentioned the food he remembered that he hadn't eaten today at all, then once that came to mind he started getting hungry. "whens the next meal then?"

He entered the room and took a look at what little was in there, he removed his trench coat and hung it on the door. Then came the fun part, he removed his revolver from his belt and placed it on the bed as well, "Hope the crew ain't opposed to weapons?" He said with a bit of caution.

Kara had to look at her watch to know the answer to his first question. “We are looking at almost a hour before next meal.” She watched him from just outside of his dorm. She would never enter without permission and expected the same from everyone else. Her eyes watched him though as he moved about his room. It seemed he was accustomed to being inside of a ship, and the dorms that came with him. That was natural to assume of course, pilots loved to fly, one what would have seemed worried, or uncomfortable would have been a red flag to her.

“If you know how to fire it, I have no issue.” She really didn’t care, to her a weapon was an extension of your being. If one knew how to handle it, then it was a tool. However, anyone foolish with their weapon, well, where she was from, they were shot. No should handle a weapon if they were untrained in the matter. She turned to leave him, allow him to get more settled, however, she paused remembering something her sister asked her to ask. “Is there anything you require. Kyla is our medic, she told me something about.” Kara twirled her hand, trying to remember her sister’s words, but she had to admit there was times she didn’t understand a thing she was saying. “People having different reactions to medications and food stuff… allergies” at least she remembered the word at some point.

"Good" he said to both her responses, the not her question spoke again, "No i don't think so." He tried to recall any allergies, he grabbed his suit case opened it keeping it so it wasn't facing where the captain could see it, he still wanted to keep some secrets, specifically what things he had in the bag, he started to unpack the clothes he had in it, "OH, i didn't get your name, captain?"

When it came to who the ship was registered to, well, Kara lied. However, for now, as long as these people were on her ship she didn’t see a problem with them. It would be more of a shock later for them, if the alliance happened to find their pesky heads into her business. Something she really didn’t want to think about or worry about for a spell. “I shall inform my sister.” She had just turned to leave the pilot and allow him to explore around the ship. However, she stopped and smiled to him. “Kara Monroe. I’ll see you at dinner, Parker.”
