"So I am not a person then?" she hissed, her voice growing angry again. It was his step forward that brought the knife out, and she stepped to the side. A fluid motion that only a dance could pull off. She slipped much closer to him, and slipped the knife up against his neck. "Don't try it." she hissed, then stepped back, slipping the gun away, but keeping the rather utilitarian knife out. He was a sword fighter then.
"I knew your father. He was the medic that patched me up after my last... my last... kill." she snapped. "He saved my life." she added. "And I wasn't there to save his." another level of greif filled her. She'd been saved by him, for the scar across her belly was given to her by the white clad girl. "The girl you saw... she wasn't all good." she added, taking another step back. "I don't play with people. Even when I was ordered to kill, it was as clean as I could make it." she murmured, looking at the boy. "Now go away. I didn't need this." she turned then, and moved back in towards her ship, stepping onto the ramp, and feeling, safer, though she knew she shouldn't have.

Lars was surprised by her speed, and cursed his sloppy excuse for an attack. He shouldn't have done it, and how she would be expecting it. He knew he had blown his best chance, but he still felt confident that he could at least get away, if he had to. But her words had caught his ear, and he looked at her. "What happened?" He said, somewhat less pleasantly than he would have liked. "You said before you didn't know, but i don't think that is true...." He paused, deciding to at least try to make some repairs, "Please." He added.
He spun his sword deftly, before replacing it in the sheath. He then help up his hands for a moment to show her he didn't intend to try anything. And then he listened.
[[Story, I hope]]
She had just finished talking, when a motion caught his eye. Behind her, a man was creeping up, from shadow to shadow, and he seemed focused on her. Lars' eyes widened, and he acted on adrenaline. He saw the man reach for, and pull out a gun. "Look out." He said, pushing her out of the way, and drawing his own pistol. He fired two shots at the man, and felt the bullet that had been meant for her zip past his head. "Son of a.." He said, as the other man fell to the ground. "You are just full of interesting stories."

The young man stopped. Good. She wasn't in the mood to hide a body. Then he stopped her with words again. She turned to look at him, the knife held outwards, as if to slash across the body. Her dark eyes watched him. "It was a gunship, actually. Earlier on in the battle. They targeted one of the buildings, it was our supplies. He shouldn't have been in there, and it was my job to keep the place cealed up. We'd had someone try to sneak in only an hour before, and I was busy..." she stopped for a moment. "Interrogating the woman, when the ship came over. Buzzed us low, and came in under our radar. We didn't even know he had gone in until an hour later, when we dug out his body. No one was sapposed to enter the building with out my autherization, but he had to get what ever he had needed to save a girl. The girl died as well."
She looked away from him, up at the sky, it was warm now. Then suddenly she was thrown to the ground. Up came her gun, in an instant, but before she could, the man who'd been coming after her was dead. She moved quickly forward and turned the man with a foot. She grabbed his gun, and searched the body. "Damn. No identification." she muttered to herself. "Anyone who survived the war has interesting stories to tell."

Lars stood, frozen. His gun was still pointed at the place where the man had been, and he was lost in thought. He hadn't known, his father had been trying to save a life. He was conflicted, proud and angry at the same time. "That was just like you dad," he murmured "Never could stop helping." He sighed, and came back to the real world.
"Does this happen, often?" He asked, looking around somewhat nervously. He gingerly let his gun lower, and then he holstered it. He walked over to the body, and looked down. "They usually don't carry Identity Cards with them, most don't even have them anymore, if ever." He crouched down, and saw something. "Hey look at this.." He rolled the man's head to the side, exposing a fairly ornate tattoo. "It looks like a letter or something... mean anything to you?"

Jadyn glared at the body and stood up. The boy had gotten in the way, unintentionally no doubt, but still. She'd have done well all on her own. She didn't even respond to his mumbled words. Her mind was off on other things.
"No." she said softly. "But it happens often enough that it keeps me sharp." she said annoyed. Then the boy crouched down and found the tattoo. "No. Doesn't even remind me of anyone, but that doesn't surprise me. All of my enemies are former browncoats." she spoke quickly then stepped back from the body. "Well his employers will be not to happy he's dead. Thank you."

Lars stood up, and brushed the dirt off his pants as best he could. "Well, I hope you see the next one coming." He smiled, and then looked around. "And as far as thanks go, no need." He offered a hand for a shake, but then seemed to think better of it. "Well, I guess I should be going... there was an incident with some drunks and I don't want them to come back." He sighed, and looked at the ship again. "If you ever need anything, don't be afraid to ask." He changed his mind again, and offered a hand to shake.
"Take care of yourself Captain." He said, looking back towards the Star. "You know, you never told me your name, did you?"

She watched him for a moment as he spoke. "Well I owe you a debt now, Someday I'll repay it." she said quietly. Her dark eyes locked on him as he spoke again. "Don't push with your mind until you can sheild." she added, before he asked her her name. She smiled a little, giving her a younger look.
"Jadyn." she said softly. "And I at least know your last name. Captain Engström." she said with a nod. "We will meet again, I have no doubt. Just don't get in to much trouble. You can't tell who's the good guy or the bad." she said quietly.

Lars smiled, keeping his true worries about the situation well out of view. "It was a pleasure." He said, and then listened as she spoke her last piece. He merely nodded in response to her cryptic words, and decided that this was all some sort of joke. At least he hoped so. "I'll do my best." He said, with a shrug.
He began to walk away, but stopped and turned back to face her. "As far as debts go, you don't owe me a thing." He said, shaking his head, "But like I said, if you ever need anything, just look me up." He smiled and gestured broadly, "I'll be around.... somewhere." He touched his temple with two fingers, and then turned and walked away from what had been without question the oddest experience of his life. "Don't go getting shot at anymore..." He murmured as he walked off, not sure if she could hear him. "You are far too good lookin' to get yourself killed."
As he walked away, he had the distinct feeling she was watching him, but he didn't care. As far as he was concerned, she was just another person who had their own way of coping with the ways of the Verse. Hell, he thought, she seems saner than most.
