Patrick was in the final moments of landing the ship; Freya down in the Eavesdown docks on Persephone. Grabbing a hold of the yoke he began the final descent with a sadness in his heart, the crew of this passenger ship had only hired him for the journey to Persephone itself, they had no need for him after that, because they had a pilot of their own waiting for them there. 'A well, a jobs a job in this gorram 'verse, ain't like Persephone ain't the right place to be to find work, aye?' he thought to himself just as he felt the ship touch down in the allotted docking space. He wasn't happy to be here, because he liked the ship, and he wanted to spend more time on it, but that was always the way when you were enjoying yourself.
"You all set Paddy?" the Captain stuck his head through the small doorway to the bridge, Patrick turned with a beaming smile on his face, waving a greeting as he pointed to a large duffel bag on the floor. "You betcha 'cap, all ready to go." he was faking the happiness because he didn't want no pity. The last thing he wanted was for them to offer him passage on the ship, because being a passenger just didn't sit right with Patrick, he earned his keep, always had, always would. The captain didn't move as he waited for Patrick to shut the systems down, their mechanic was obviously in the engine room doing his part too, but the main process was always done on the bridge.
With a slight sigh he flicked the last switch and turned to grab his bag. "You given' any thought to where you'll be off to next?" the captain had his arms folded as he stood there. "Not really. Figured I'd float a bit, maybe see the 'verse a little.....maybe join the uprising" that made the captain laugh, as if Patrick had said something mightily funny. "Oh yeah, big bad Paddy gonna put the gorram purple bellies in the ground!" the captain sniggered and it made Patrick chuckle. "Yep, Well, we'll see where things take us. Thanks again for having me Captain. Maybe we'll see each other down the line"
Patrick extended his hand to shake the captains as they headed towards the cargo bay, the captain took it and shook it, stopping for a second. "I'd keep you on if I could Paddy, but we got a deal with our pilot and we can't back out of it. You know you're welcome to stay...." Patrick smiled right into the captains eyes and nodded his head. "I appreciate it Cap, but this ain't my place." and with that Patrick turned and began the walk down the slope of Freya and onto the planet Persephone. The was shining brightly and it all felt a bit harsh, the slight breeze was different to the manufactured environment on the ship, and the smell of people, the smell of markets and such hit him like a wave of bad smells and as he recoiled he began to look around. 'Well, I guess it's time to find a new home....
