JD squatted behind the desk, out of sight of the incoming guards, watching as the rest of the crew took their own positions. The patting of the guards boots was getting closer now, and they were nearly on top of them.
He could hear the footsteps come to a slow, meaning that they had entered the foyer. JD cocked his guns, and was about to jump up, and spray them with a burst of bullets. But before he even managed to straighten up, Ben had already popped all four of them by unloading most of his clip into them.
He looked over the desk top, to see Ben already stood over one of the bodies. It was a wonder how the alliance won the war. Probably due to better funding and equipment, but mostly because of their numbers. It's a miracle that the majority of the corrupt government was taken down by a single broadcasting, all those years ago.
JD and Ben where pretty much on the same page again. He was just about to suggest that he go clear the rooms. Normally JD isn't the type of guy to speak up, but it was something about the adrenaline, that gave him the confidence to do so.
He nodded, and sped off down the corridors, with multiple doors on either side.
all of the rooms, where empty. Some with half eaten food, or still smoking cigarettes in ashtray's, showing that this is where the first group of guards where before they had to rush outside.
JD had taken one of the cigarettes, and let it hang loosely in his mouth as he cleared the rest of the rooms.
He came to the last room, at the end of the corridor. he tested the handle, but it was firmly locked. Meaning that there was likely going to be somebody behind it.
JD took a drag of his ciggy, before taking a step back, and kicking down the door. He was quite surprised at the ease of this, as the door fell off it's hinges, and slammed down on the floor with a bang.
He had his guns at the ready, pointed outward to shoot any attackers. But all that was here, seemed to be a bunch of boxes.
He was about to leave the room, before he heard the slight sound of sobbing, coming from a locker in the corner of the room.
He put his pistols in their holsters, and took his shotgun off of his shoulder, aiming it at the door of the locker.
Ripping it open, the end of the barrel was looked upon by a man, not much younger than JD himself. He was all suited up in his armour, but he must be a newbie, and too scared to run out into the fire fight.
"Please mister, Don't kill me!", he cried hysterically, his hands held up, trying to hide the shotgun pointing at his face from his view. JD noticed that even though he was fully suited up, he didn't have any weapons on him. He lowered his shotgun, and held out his hand to the boy, who took it, pulling himself up while wiping the tears away from his face with the other hand. "Don't worry mate," He said comfortingly, "Every thing's okay.".
He pulled him closer, to give him a comforting hug, to try and calm the kid down. He embraced it, sobbing into JD's shoulder.
But JD knew that it wouldn't be okay for the kid. The least he could do for him was let him go in a calmer state of mind.
The kid had stopped sobbing, and pulled away form JD, "So what's going to happen?" He asked JD, still a bit scared at the whole ordeal.
"Well, you can come with us", JD said, putting his shotgun back over his shoulder, and he pointed to the door, motioning for the lad to walk out there. He did. He seemed to trust JD, even though he just held a gun to his face. JD followed close behind him, but before the young alliance soldier got to the doorway, JD quick as a whippet reached over and around his shoulders, and snapped the kids neck. "Quick and painless." He said with slight remorse, as he lay the boy's limp body on the floor, closing his eye's through respect.
He walked back down the corridor, taking the last puffs of of the smoke, and threw it to the floor, stepping on it as he walk back to the crew.
He found the crew again, and called over to Ben. "All clear." he announced, taking out his pistols again to reload them, just incase of any unexpected company. "You found the wea-" He was about to ask the captain, before he noticed teh already preped cases, "Oh" he muttered with a grin, at the realization.
He felt the complex rumble a little, as The Orlando flew in and landed. "We all set to load up then, sir?" he asked. That was the first time since he met Ben, that he called Ben Sir. It just felt like it was relevant.
