I'm curious if any of the mods have thought about moving off ProBoards? I thought I had read, a few times actually, that some of the board settings are not really accessible here b/c Ari wasn't the one that set them up? I might have misunderstood, though... I can offer free hosting for the site. I've been running a Star Trek PBEM for about 15 years now, and I do the hosting for that site via a reseller hosting account. Basically, we would need to buy a domain name, and then we could set up a website (probably with WordPress - easiest to set up and maintain), have a group wiki, and most importantly, have total control over our forums, without ads Not being on ProBoards would probably also help with recruiting, as it would not only make us look a little more official, but we'd have some organic traffic from search engines, as opposed to just direct linking from fan sites. On down-side, I'm not a web designer, and although I've looked high-and-low, I've not found any forum or WordPress themes that look like this one. So either someone with those abilities would have to step up to help design a theme, or we'd have to survive with something a little less Western-looking. I can help set up the site, forums, wiki, (etc.) and of course I will help keep it updated! Ari and Rade (and anyone else of their choosing) would have total control over all the settings, functions, and features of the site.

I am a bit of a novice web-designer in the making and could work on something over the Christmas holiday (which begins tomorrow for me, from university!). Not promising anything, but I could try and see what comes of an attempt.

I don't know. I'm not really that great at web design. I know html to a point, but frames and such escape me. Also, what's the estimated cost of all this?

That's the good thing - you wouldn't need to do any web design. I'm going to use apps that make it so web design isn't necessary. The site will run on WordPress, the wiki is kinda "out of the box" ready, and so-on. I mean, it will be basic -- we'll just use the Verse header that's above -- but we can add as we go. The only cost is the $12/year for the domain. We can see if we can get others to pitch in?

Does Wordpress have any charges for what you're wanting to use it for? I'm not familiar with it personally. If it's just the 12$ a year with no other charges it's not bad really, if lots of people were able to donate it'd be cheap, I mean 12 people could all donate a dollar!

There's only charges if you want to use their hosted service, and then add on extra services.
But the version you download and put on your own server is completely free and Open Source. Since we're going to be hosting on my server (and I'm not charging anything, obviously), the only charge is the domain name itself. It's about $12 a year for a .com name, or you can buy a few years at a time and it goes down a little.
